Get rid of Super Slayer. Bring Squad Slayer back.

What the title says, I’m sure some will agree with me, I’m sure others will not. I hadn’t played Reach in a little while and I wasn’t really keeping up with the updates either, then today, I jump in and realize that the only decent playlist in Reach is gone and replaced by something called ‘Super Slayer’?

I thought I had to check it out, I assumed that it was perhaps Squad Slayer with a new name; it wasn’t.

It’s basically Team Slayer with TU gametypes, LOLWUT? Why? Super Slayer is redundant, they should have simply added TU variants into the original Team Slayer playlist, there was no need to remove Squad Slayer, there are playlist with populations far lower, so I really don’t understand.

Squad Slayer was pretty much the only reason I even played Reach still, it reminded me the most of what Halo used to be, and IMO it was the most competitive playlist with the exception of MLG, of course.

I cannot stand derp lock, at all. And it’s not a matter of ‘adapting’ or ‘dealing with it’, I can deal with it just fine, in fact, I tend to get more kills when people are using AL, but the point is that the AA is absolutely ridiculously annoying, and Squad Slayer was the only playlist in which I could enjoy a satisfying game of slayer without having morons turn into ice in my face any time I get relatively close.

I’d play MLG, but none of my friends play Halo anymore, they’ve all moved on to CoD or BF, and the really hardcore Halo dudes are either back in H3 or playing H2 Vista. And playing MLG alone is depressing as hell.

So with Squad Slayer gone there really is no point in playing Reach anymore, for me at least. And I suppose it doesn’t really matter, I’m just one player, it can’t possibly make a difference, but, regardless; I felt like I had to share my opinion.

TL;DR:

Super Slayer sucks, Squad Slayer doesn’t (didn’t).

Edit#1:

> Alright, having played a bit more Super Slayer I thought I needed to emphasize more on why it sucks. Matches are incredibly uneven, this did not happen in Squad Slayer, not usually anyways because as people have mentioned earlier; it had part restrictions.

> Maps are beyond terrible, Pinnacle is still there, really? I mean… PINNACLE is still there, wat? It’s even worse than Uncaged, and that’s saying a lot seeing how that map is already pretty bad, most community maps are not better, they’re all as bad or even worse.
>
> Almost every single community map has framerate issues, you can’t even zoom in with a sniper without the game going slow-mo.

Thoughts? Agree? Disagree?

I agree with you. First game of Super Slayer: AL fest. 343 took a giant leap backward on this one… However, they don’t have the blame, it’s really those who overstuffed the ballot box in the TS voting and made Vanilla win by less, causing 343 to remove Squad and replace it with Super Slayer. I can’t say they didn’t deserve it, but I never realized how annoying AL is till I had to fight it in Super Slayer.

I suppose. I jumped on Reach just to make sure Team Slayer didn’t stay vanilla and played as much as I could during voting weeks, I was honestly astonished to see so many people vote for vanilla gametypes.

It was rather sad… and disappointing.

I can see why, H3/h2Pc have balance and Reach is a Cluster of Pooh in a bucket. So far Reach has seen more negative changes then any Halo game ever made.

OP summed up my thoughts exactly. I haven’t played Reach since squad slayer was removed (and I used to play every day).

“WE WANT TU TEAM SLAYER! EVERYONE VOTE ALL DAY ALL NIGHT! RISE MY BROTHERS, CAST DOWN THE CASUALS!”

“Ok, but we dont want to disadvantage an entire other section of the community, so we will make some room and make a whole new TU TS list just for you instead.”

“THIS IS AN OUTRAGE! HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE! JUST DO AS YOURE TOLD FFS!”

Waypoint logic.

This is a case of be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.

they took it the wrong way.

Most just wanted T.S to be Tu, Like with most of the other playlist.

Oh well, does not matter anymore to me.

I agree with you fully and completely. When I first discovered it was missing I went to the forums to post a topic without looking to see if anyone else was as distressed about it. Super slayer is useless. It has less population than squad slayer did. I’m in literally the same situation as you, no one to really play it with since newer games came out and when ever I did have someone that wanted to hop on for a bit it was only Squad Slayer we turned to because it was way more competitive without armor lock. I was just playing Squad Slayer the previous day and sat down the following day to find that Halo had betrayed me… I WANT A GAME TYPE WITHOUT ARMOR LOCK. COME ON.

More like this:

Community: “WE WANT NON-CASUAL SETTINGS! EVERYONE VOTE ALL DAY ALL NIGHT! RISE MY BROTHERS, CAST DOWN THE CASUALS!”

343: “Ok, you win. We will make your only good playlist more casual than it used to be.”

Community: “LOLWUT?!”

That just about sums it up, really.

Gotta agree, Super Slayer fails in comparison to Squad.

> or playing H2 Vista.

Who do you know that plays H2V? The only games I ever see are 24/7 Snipes on Lockout, 24/7 Snipe/BRs on Lockout, 24/7 CTF Coag, or 24/7 BR/Snipes on Foundation. It’s depressing.

Squad Slayer was the one playlist that had a flicker of the Halo 3 awesomeness. Now that it’s gone guess I’ll be spending even more time in Halo 3.

Let’s just take bleedthrough out, too, because 5 people complained, and there’s a glitch that happens every 1 in 26 billion encounters.

-.-

Squad Slayer was the only playlist with party restrictions. 343 should bring it back and add party restrictions to more playlist if it doesn’t take that much work to do.

> Squad Slayer was the only playlist with party restrictions. 343 should bring it back and add party restrictions to more playlist if it doesn’t take that much work to do.

Quoted for truth

Whether the TU Team Slayer playlist is 4v4 or 5v5 doesn’t matter to me, but what does matter are the settings and maps. Squad was great because it didn’t have the community TS maps (not to bash on all of them, but some were just terrible) and the dreaded Sword Base map. Squad also promoted more DMR starts, longer matches and it was initially used for those that wanted TS with more than two local players.

But what Squad actually had was a good matching system. Parties generally matched parties. I usually search alone, and I would get matches where I joined a team of 4, against another 4 + 1 situation. A team of 5 never picked on 5 randoms, the equivalent of what is typically seen in MLG and other playlists.

If Squad doesn’t return, at least improve the Super Slayer playlist, or simply merge it with the Arena, since that playlist needs a pickup and is also redundant. One thing that should happen, however, is the Squad matchmaking system be implemented in all team playlists. While that may lengthen search times, the complaints of party abuse should pretty much disappear.

As for me, I’ll be spending a bit more time in Anniv. Classic, MLG and SWAT. Not that I won’t play other playlists of course.

> I WANT A GAME TYPE WITHOUT ARMOR LOCK. COME ON.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

OMG, this makes me laugh the most.

You whined that AL was OP, so 343 nerfs it.

Now you whine that the nerf’d AL is still available in the TU’d playlist.

So I really have to wonder… What was the point in 343 wasting resources on AL when you AL haters just wanted it removed completely anyway?

It’s like sword block now… You can still sword block with another sword… BUT WHAT MATCH MAKING GAMETYPE/MAP HAS TWO SWORDS ON IT?

TU’s can be GIANT wastes of resources when implemented without thought.

Please bring squad slayer back. I want to match other parties, not have the majority of the other team quit and play hide and seek for ten minutes. Also, make Team Objective 4v4 again. Making that playlist 5v5 was an astonishing decision.
