get rid of join in progress for gods sake

IM so tires of getting in games in progress that i do not want to play, just remove it no one wants it, im seriously raging over this stupidity, and i wonder who the person is that gave that fricking stupid idea there at 343. Ive played halo for the past 4 years almost everyday and you don’t listen to the fans. I love halo trust me, but not if you keep messing up. So mad right now

You realize you can dodge JiP, right?

> You realize you can dodge JiP, right?

Is there? I haven’t seen an option to disable it… are there some gametypes that DON’T have JiP?

Here’s what JIP does for everyone: solves the quitting problem. What it does to you: “make you play games you don’t want to.”

Where’s the issue? Toughen up and take one for the team. Plenty of others do the same for you.

But think of how happy you made the 3 guys left to hang and dry without a teammate!

I have to agree.

> But think of how happy you made the 3 guys left to hang and dry without a teammate!

I want to believe that that’s sarcasm, but I’ve seen your thread about weapon attachments, so I doubt it.

But anyway. Again, JiP is really more of a hindrance than a benefit. Who wants to join a game where there’s three minutes left and your 2-man team is losing by 300 points?

No, JIP is one of the positive additions, sure joining a losing team every so often is annoying, but it’s a worth while sacrifice to never have to solo a game of team slayer ever again.

> > Who wants to join a game where there’s three minutes left and your 2-man team is losing by 300 points?

> Who wants to play a game where the match can be thrown because of one or two rage quitters? Don’t just look at the worst extreme as “WHY THIS BE -Yoink-!”, you loose A LOT of perspective that way.

I enjoy joining those sorts of games. I enjoy the challenge of trying to turn it around and could care less if we lose, had nothing to do with me.

And you should be able to customize you gun to better suit you as a player. Not everyone thinks the BR or whatever is perfect as is.

No, unless it’s purely cosmetic.

As for JiP, it’-Yoink!- and miss sometimes, but I’m honestly glad that it’s in the game. One of the few things I hated from the previous Halos was that people would rage quit on you, and you’d be severely outnumbered. So many times would it end up being me against the entire team because my teammates decided to rage quit on me. JiP solves that problem, for the most part. While I still think it’s flawed and could use a bit more tweaking, it’s a welcome addition to the series.

solves the quitting problem…HAHAHA. i haven’t played h4 too much, but enough to get about 20k kills.

if there’s one thing JIP does its exacerbates(increases severity of the problem)the problem.

out of all the games i’ve played the second certain people aren’t host, a person quits the game, the game starts with unfair looking teams (4 people who play often vs level 20-30s), foreign games, a team gets off to a pretty bad start… THEY QUIT.

out of my experience playing h2, h3, hr and h4 online h4 has the biggest problem with quitters, hands down.

yes in a certain time frame people can join back, but does it SOLVE the problem of QUITTING? the answer is NO. it’s just made it more ACCEPTABLE, because hey, i’ll just get REPLACED. there’ll be no CONSEQUENCES either.

a much better solution could be lock players in a game so that if they quit they can only join back to their game in progress, if a team is losing after a certain time frame (halfway through the total time, eg 12 min game, 6 min will be when surrendering is available) they have the option of surrenduring with a majority vote (3 of 4, 6 of 8. unless people have quit then 2 of 3, 5 of 7 etc). people who quit will get lengthier time bans the more they quit (eg 10 mins stack for every quit, wipes off 50-80 mins at end of week to regulate quitting to max 5-8 games, any excess time from last week gets carried over in the next quit penalty)

my idea of a solution curbs spawn killing, harshens consecutive quitting, gives players an alternative to quitting to allow for fuller games, won’t spam black screen in games as quitting won’t be as rife.

the trade-off? certain games ending quicker because a team surrendurs.

there are many ways around quitting than JIP, this solution may not be perfect but it sure beats JIP and is just another idea for a solution.

The JiP progress is annoying I have to admit that but then again so is the wait time for finding sessions

I have to disagree . The Join in Progress system gives me hope , when players on my team quit the match . Especially when playing game-types like Capture the Flag .

I really dislike JiP on those occasions when I am added to a team after the OpFor has started a spawn rape spree that doesn’t stop. On Griftball, that spree can keep going, and going, ad nauseum…You either suck it up and let the OpFor run up the kills score, or quit that game.

People that quit matches they have JIP, purely because it’s a JIP match are the ones breaking the system. You were put into that match to help out a team who is down a few members. Remember that they system takes time to find new members, it’s not instant, so the other team will have the upper hand for a while.

Quitting out of a match you JIP means the system has to again search for new players, assuming the windows hasn’t closed, which will take even more time. Players can be entered right up to the point of window close, so again the opposing team could have taken a larger lead - hence why you can sometimes find yourself joining in and the other team is quite high up in points.

Don’t blame 343 for this, blame the quitters. Sure there’s legit reasons to quit, that’s not who I’m aiming at here though. This is a feature I have seen asked for, for years. Now we finally have it, all people do is complain and want it gone?

I’m sure if you had just stayed in the game, your team could have rallied back for the win or at the very least give the other team a run for their money. I certainly had a fair few amazing matches like that in the past.

One positive thought to any JiP match is that win or loose, you can always use the experience to learn how to play the game better than before.
If only the spawn rapers (and intentional betrayers) could get shuffled to their own maps…

In a way 343i is the one to blame, not about the quitters though but the fact there is no Social and Ranked playlist. So many problems would be solved if they went back to that.
People who don’t like JiP would obviously benefit from a pure ranked playlist as well as those who cares about skill rank and all that.
Meanwhile those who are there for the more social experience and who doesn’t care if there’s JiP will most likely play the Social playlists.

Social Playlists- Fixed JIP that puts you against players with the same skill, perhaps if we made quitters more likely to JIP as a deterrence to quitting?

Ranked Playlist- Git rid off it, it just doesn’t seem to work in Competitive Halo.

I always avoid JiP it’s stupid as hell.
It should never had made it into Halo
