And I completely agree with you. Every bit of feedback being talked about pretty much everyone generally agrees on for the most part. But it’s not like they’re gonna release a livestream or documentary on what they’re doing at the office every day, they’ve been more vocal and helpful with us than 90% of the other companies out there even as they are now
I will also reiterate, my problem isn’t with feedback or constructive criticism. it’s with non-constructive criticism that’s basically turned into mindless war against 343. “I don’t like the way that the store is set up, here’s why and what i’d like to see fixed” is very different from “343 forced me to buy another red coating because they’re anti-player”. I’m not saying that’s what you did but it’s something I’m seeing alot. “I hate 343 for ruining Halo”, “I wish Halo ended with Halo Reach”, “343 is forcing me to spend so much money on this game”, “343 wants Halo to die that’s why they made the progression slow”. That kind of “feedback” is far from helpful. Again not saying you did it, just explaining why i’m pissed at the community right now
But yes, when it comes to issues that they haven’t talked about or said they’re in the process of fixing, by all means make it known as that is the only way to bring about change. 100% I agree. Just wish people would do it with a little more professionalism. A little less “i’m so f-ing angry at 343 for doing this on purpose” and a little more “Hey this is what I don’t like, this is how I would like it changed, anyone who agrees help the issue become known to 343” and once they acknowledge it, mission accomplished.
Right. I wouldn’t expect a whole documentary on it either. But they do have a Known Issues list for bugs, it isn’t a far cry for them to at least acknowledge what they are (consistently) hearing from the fans in one comprehensive document.
I don’t even particularly need to hear what they’re going to fix or how. I mean, they will need to fix it all if they want to have a success on their hands, but right now it would be enough to acknowledge WHAT they hear, rather than simply “we hear you”. Because that is often followed by a comment on one issue, remaining radio silent on the rest.
Roadmaps tend to overpromise and be changed along the way. But the only way to get us to shut up about this stuff needs to be to acknowledge it. If we shut up because they ignore us, they will let the problems fester and the game will die.
Which would be unfortunate. There’s a lot of potential here. But some real transparency would go a long way here.
Agreed. That’s been something that’s been requested for a while actually. I remember they did a document like that after the first flight if i’m not mistaken. it listen what issues they heard, which ones would be fixed sooner than others, which issues they’d rather watch and analyze to figure out a solution, etc. I’d love that
That’s where, i think a bigger storefront would help by being able to keep more on the storefront you don’t encourage FOMO as much and then they can still keep their weekly and daily specials…
I look over my Halo 5 req list and it is impressive. A couple of hundred helmets, a couple of hundred armours, nearly a hundred power weapons, Boosts, armour upgrades and I can’t even think off the top of my head, how many vehicles. I never bought a single req pack.
Yep, loved that req system.
I also knocked over a couple of the new challenges in MCC tonight. The spartan line up in customisation is looking great.
You’re a bit of an edge case, though. That system was designed to frustrate. In all my time playing and I believe $100+ in REQ pack purchases, I never once got a single helmet I wanted. I didn’t have the patience to play for the amount of time it would have taken to unlock EVERYTHING when it would have taken like 1000+ hours.
A system like Reach was okay. But the ideal way to unlock everything IMO is a Halo 3 system, perhaps mixed with Halo 4’s commendation system. What Reach truly brought to the equation was the modular, purposeful armor, which is actually improved upon in this game.
Except for the shoulders and knees, which are currently all supplementary armor. Don’t know why any Spartan would wear anything other than standard issue except to look cool.
Right, but as a spartan you’d need function over form and there’s no clear reason for them to outfit their spartans with anything but the standard issue; if anything was “better”, purely defensively, that would be the standard issue. And anything specialized is not clearly defined as being specialized for any purpose. The lore for all shoulders on Mk VII is just “supplementary deltoid armor”.
i would rather have the classic mK VI shoulder pads tbh the rounded ones on the MK VII are just kinda IMHO ugly i prefer sharp lines over curves like the f-117 over say an airbus 380.
Simple solution to eliminate part of the problem and not need to overhaul the whole system would be make the store… a store… no bundles and a library of all individual items. Best solution in the meantime for everyone who doesn’t agree with the system is just don’t buy anything, It wont be gone forever and even if it never comes back, how different will your life be a year or so from now without having bought it.
Since the game likely wont be un-free-to-played, my personal hope is that at least they put more emphasis on the battle pass content and move away from this store model. I’d happily pay more money for the battle pass than it currently costs if all the items that have been in the store were unlockable through both leveling the battlepass and specific bp challenges (similar to mcc seasonal challenges). After buying the first one and then since seeing what shows up in the store I feel like I was ripped off. All the best armor shows up exclusively in the store, and its overpriced because its bundled with a bunch of things that no-one would ever spend money on which sadly someone thought would make it seem like a deal. I have a little FOMO too but refuse to put money into a system that I disagree with. Since I already have the points though I’m just not spending them until the next battle pass and only, if they do that one way better than season 1’s bp.
All valid and reasonable points . I was thinking more about the argument given - we have to do this because servers cost money - I just thought that a Halo 5 system, was better than what’s been put in place now. I was also being a little facetious with the other post I was quoting. It’s a trait with Aussie humour. I make a conscious effort to keep it toned down here in the forums, if I didn’t, I would get flagged into oblivion - LOL
Couldn’t agree with you more. The weekly challenges are super grindy. I feel like I spend way too long completing them and it makes the game way less fun.
Yeah, I’m already feeling burnt out on Halo which is just a travesty honestly. I will probably play to get abbey lime, finish campaign, and try the playlists on tuesday but… a few years ago when Destiny 2 came out, I was so offput that I started designing my own game. It may be a little overzealous to pull off on my own but I gotta say this game is lighting a fire under me to work on it more.
While FOMO doesn’t really work on me, I do think it’s part of a wider problem with the monetization system.
Not only are the prices on bundles too high, the whole concept of bundles forces players to buy items they might not want in order to get one or two items that they do, and not knowing the availability of said items adds FOMO to the mix.
For example, I would have to spend $60 (the price of the campaign!) to get the 5 specific items I would need if I want to build my ideal Spartan, and that’s only for one armor core in the first season. This system is problematic for a community that is used to having more customization while still paying less.
I really think the entire system needs to be reworked to be more consumer-friendly. While Halo Infinite is F2P, and needs to make a profit, there are other games that handle monetization far better and don’t exploit FOMO to this extent. Halo can do a better job at putting players first.
I’m going to be honest, I agree with the weekly rewards. You put in the time that week, you get rewarded. Not everyone will complete them and that’s the whole point. I still wear the Willow Tea coating on my Mark VII for that reason, it has a bit of rarity to it. Plus I think it looks good.
What I don’t agree with is the rotating store and pricing. I have been looking every single day for the Reach Operator bundle to return, and it only rotated ONCE through Season 1. That is absolutely ridiculous. I have to keep waiting for a simple tan and yellow armor coating inside a $10 bundle to return just so I can make my Spartan look how I want (with no guarantee that it will ever return). Store items especially will make players unique, because the overwhelming majority won’t buy the same bundles (if any) in the first place.
Until proven otherwise, it’s clear this is a dumb scare tactic to get players to buy overpriced bundles with no clarity on if the items will ever be available again or not
