Yes, I’d favoritt this post ,but forum says i’m out of favs…
Players can speak with the wallets. Make store go bankrupt in a sense and change will happen
Well I won’t be buying anymore for a long time looking at the stuff that’s up now…
For me ally purchases were from Xbox gift cards I got as gifts on my birthday. And redeemed GameStop points to get more gift cards. That has dried up.
Outside of that I did purchase the Nerf stuff and I have a few action figures. And the Halo infinite elite controller. But those gave me IRL items that I enjoy.
Outside of that I’m not supporting outside of the Battlepass.
Which means no more of my money till may 2022 and only 10 bucks. Which I should have enough gamepass points to redeem cash for.
What I find funny is 343 didn’t even try with the store design. They just straight up copied EA’s failed game Anthem’s store design.
But even worse they locked 98% of all cosmetics behind. Paywall and gave no in-game way to earn those credits… And honestly thought people wouldn’t notice.
That’s why people should just be disciplined and boycott that store.
Corporate would have to change their strat up quick
Yeah i saw that and was like WHAT? Yes i bought the battlepass ,but I still find that unfair that they lock most of hte customization behind a paywall… The only other thing I bought was the america HCS logos because i wanted my old wolf logo from halo 3 back. 343 better do some real big changes in the future or the campaign will very likely be my last purchase from 343 ever. ONtop of the pay wall the battlepass is filled with a bunch of fillers (EXP boost and challeng swaps) and some tiers are a single item. Becuase of this i’m forced to go through soo much crap i will never use like mK V parts logos etc… honestly the FIRST thing I’ve used from the current progression that is cosmeticis an armor coating AT TIER 49!!! because i don’t have tha ability to choose custom colors for a coating.
Definitely an age thing - it starts off as a child and you see it when they don’t want to go to bed.
Or like you said the last one to leave the party. I’ve been there.
It is advocating to ELIMINATE that FOMO system and not leave it up to the player to have to fight against it. I do not understand this need to defend the indefensible or all that nonsense of the law of the fittest and free will.
This does not really work from the moment in which there are whale players who more than compensate the rest of the players who do not pay.
From an external aspect, putting aside all code and development issues, the existing FOMO problem in the weekly challenges and its prize can be easily solved. There is no reason to maintain the current system beyond continuing to perpetuate the FOMO.
For example, this week after spending the weekend playing I managed to reach the final challenge, win 17 games. I just don’t have time to get it, it ends this afternoon (local time) and I work from 8AM to 6PM, all my weekly effort has been for nothing. This is not fair, this prompts me to stop playing because I have burned myself trying to get a prize that I am simply going to lose forever.
I definitely have FOMO, I hate the fact I cant do weeklies because of work.
yeah that i see as a problem weekly challenges should all be open at the same time, people like you have jobs… and kids have school.
honestly I think one of the best examples of a great In game store is Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Some options are real.cash some are in game currency. But they have a robust amount of options day one.
Right now it’s straight but bundles. Which sucks because of you just want the helmet you have to pay for other stuff at a higher price that you don’t want.
Where -Yoink!- in Breakpoint you can buy bundles but also go into the bundles and.l buy per peice. Granted buying the whole bundle is cheaper of you end up buying all of it per peice. But of all you want this three out of 5 peices than yea less money spent.
But right now your only options outside the HCS section is 4 things that are in bundles. Which usually just consist of 1 or 2 armor peices, and mostly Coatings for one armor Core and a weapon or vehicle
I prefer warframe where you can trade items for the in game paid currency
Problem is that we talk about Halo. It’s one thing if you have a system like this in a new game. But in Halo we were always able to earn every armor ingame through gameplay. Even in Halo 5 [for most of the armors] you are able to unlock stuff. And now, in a Halo game, you are forced to buy everything.
I think you get my point
Yep ! I have made that exact point a few times. You COULD spend a couple of thousand bucks, if you wanted to and have every unlock at Level 1. I ground out the entire thing and didn’t have everything unlocked until about Level 140 or so. I didn’t buy a single req pack. So whether you slogged it out, or just spent up big, the end result was the same. I think Halo 5 did it great. The other thing was you couldn’t buy your way to 152. Every player with 152, gets a salute from me, you lot deserve a solid gold trophy sent to you in the mail.
I’m surprised to see how we’ve gotten to the point of saying that Halo 5 did well with its REQ-based customization system.
It would be the equivalent of COD monetizing weapon attachments per each gun.
Eh, I’m not sure with the store there’s really any FOMO right now. I’ve already seen the same 007 themed bundle offered for the second time (at least that I’ve seen) the other day. Probably the only store bundles you might rarely see ever again would be the ones involving the timed events. Probably won’t see that samurai sword attachment again until the next week of the event. But the weekly ultimate challenge awards? Those I can pretty easily see someone having FOMO for. Just one item per week with hundreds of customization items in the game that don’t have any known unlock currently. Yeah, if you miss one week’s reward, you probably won’t see it up for grabs again for a long time. Getting the weekly reward should be a lot easier to achieve than it currently is.
The suits? The suits didn’t design the store front with limited UI that was all 343. Suits don’t want FOMO, they want results. Results are more then just cash back on the title before it releases. Results are a stable player base and a game that can sustain a population of a 10 year span exactly how HI was marketed, with a return on their investment within that time.
If 343 are saying that the UI can’t handle the simple adjustment of the playlists in MP then it will probably crash the game to add more items in the storefront. The more items in the storefront, the more people will be willing to buy them, the more money for suits. I understand that 343 were pressured to monetize the system, but how it was monetized is up to 343.
And you can’t get rid of FOMO. You can just minimize it’s effects. FOMO is a perception by an individual. It is based in emotion and not fact. It requires a cathartic moment to get over.
