i got Halo 4 for Christmas, just what i wanted happy
I look at the DVD Box, 100% Uncut (for me, Average Joe that means nothing is missing, awesome!), i look over the DVD Box art, read most of the text, nowhere is a mention what languages are on the Disc.
Oh well frak it it’s 2012 Multilanguage is standard by now, so i just open the plastic wrapper and put the DVD in the Xbox…
English Menu, English SUBTITLES… German Voices… NOOOO!
Ok… whatever, got to bring it back to the Shop and import the UK version online, damn it.
2 Days later the unfriendly Salesman at Media Markt tells me that i could have informed myself on the Internet and that they don’t take back opened Software.
Of course, yepp seen that coming from a mile away, but explain to my father who never had to deal with that stuff… ugh
So now i got a 60 Euro Disc that i can sell on ebay for half of it
need to Import the game from UK for 45 Euro
my Dad is angry because he got the wrong present
i’m angry because he never even could have gotten the right one in the first place…
and another perfect Christmas present ruined.
FAIL.
All this could have been easily prevented if:
a) Microsoft would put a logo / Sticker on their Games what languages are on the Disc (audio/text separate)! is that an unreasonable request? they write all kind of crap on there from coop to xbox live required, but not what languages are on the disc? WHY?
[i would not have opened the disc and could have returned it with the plastic around it intact]
b) Microsoft could just put the English language on the Disc by default!
(this should be DEFAULT by now anyway. Not everybody in Germany speaks German and many just prefer the original language in movies and games, you will never find a DVD or BluRay where there is no english audio line on the disc. You can buy most Xbox games blindly in the Shop and the english audio files will be there no problem, but for some reason there is never any English Audio on Halo games!)
c) If the language files are not on the disc because there is no room left (hard to imagine with 2 DVDs and audio compression these days), put the Data as optional Download on Xbox Live!
Heck i’d even pay extra for it as DLC.
Have a nice day.
