If you click on the Halo 4 icon int the top right corner, scroll down, click Ordance + Armor, and scroll down once more, you’ll see SPARTAN GENII ARMOR accompanied by a picture of default Spartan armor, or something along those lines. Why can’t they just call it MJOLNIR Mk. VII?
Canonically:
Because Mark I through VII was the same basic type of configuration.
Therefor, it was all part of a generation. This new armor is a totally different configuration. Therefor, a new type and a new generation.
Realistically:
This is the first official armor not made by Bungie.
It’s another way of 343i separating them selves (and their Halo) from Bungie (and Bungie’s Halo)
Because its not exactly the same. GenII is designed for regular humans as far as I know. Whereas real Mjolnir will kill a regular human if worn. The force multiplying circuits and reflex enhancement systems will rip you apart inside the suit. GenII two may still have these things still but toned down. I may be wrong however and it may just be the same thing just made more effective. The novel The Thursday war comes out in october an may shed some light on things.
P.S. Cononically Mark I - III wasn’t even real Mjolnir. They were giant exosuits mostly used for utility work, not combat. Mjolnir was based off the concept though and worked to make such things more practical, so they got grouped.
Probably because it isn’t part of the original series and Halsey’s designs. Mjolnir Mark VII is a whole different set of armor that does exist. One was given to Naomi-010 in Halo: Glasslands. My guess would be that Generation 2 is a less expensive version that doesn’t have all the fancy capabilities Mark VII would have.
In short, it’s not named Mark VII because Mark VII is a whole different set of armor.
