I know Genesect is a Pokémon but nobody can be certain on the correct pronunciation for it which got me thinking about Genesong, the title of a Halo 2: Anniversary track.
Is it pronounced Gen-e-song like I have always pronounced Gen-e-sect or is it pronounced Gene(jean)-song making it Gene(jean)-sect as I have seen others call the Pokémon?
Because I have always pronounced Genesect as Gen-e-sect, when reading Genesong I automatically pronounce it as Gen-e-song though that could be incorrect.
In my head I read it as Gen e song, but I don’t see why both enunciations can’t be valid. It probably boils down to accent.
I’ve always pronounced it “jeen”. Probably because that’s how they said it in the audiobooks I’m guessing. But there have been inconsistencies in the pronunciations in the audiobooks before so that isn’t necessarily correct.
I pronounce it as Genee-song and Genesect in my native tongue.
But consider that Iam not an native english speaker
If I need to pronounce it in english it would be Gineesect and Gineesong
After misinterpreting the pronunciation of “jean” in the OP, all I can think of now is [ʒɑ:nsoŋ].
I say jeen song. (Now I want to listen to it)
