Let me start by explaining Generator Defense for those who can’t remember, or don’t know.
Generator Defense was introduced in the Halo Reach Beta. The gametype consisted of 6 players, pitting 3 Spartans against 3 Elites. Each match lasts 10 minutes, and is composed of 2 rounds: each round 5 minutes in length. There are 3 Generators (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie). The Spartans are in charge of the 3 Generators, and must defend the generators from destruction by the Elites. The Elites must damage each Generator enough in order to destroy it. If all 3 Generators are destroyed, the Elites win that round. If they, however, cannot destroy all 3 Generators because the Spartans have defended them, then the Elites will lose that round. Both the Elites and Spartans will then both switch sides for the next round. The Spartans have a special tool in their arsenal: the ability to lock down a generator, making the Generator indestructible for 30 seconds. There are also random power weapons that drop in pods near the beginning of each round.
I really loved this gametype, mostly because of the fact that teams must use coordinated efforts/teamwork to win the round/stop the other team from winning (the fact that each team has 3 players is good because it forces them to work together). I also loved it because it was fairly balanced(e.g., Elites are stronger, Spartans can fall back to a base and they get power-weapons). At the same time, I had dislikes too, such as the fact that there was ALWAYS tremendous lag throughout the ENTIRE match, and that Generators had far too little a cool-down time for locking down.
**TL;DR I loved Generator Defense, should it go in Halo 4?
Anyway, that’s how I see it. I would love for Generator Defense to be implemented into Halo 4. With a few small tweaks/adjustments, this gametype could be near perfect!
What do you guys think? Should Generator Defense be in Halo 4? Why or why not? If so, should it be changed in any way?
Comment away!
