there are some mechanics that grind my gears a bit regarding vehicles on Halo 5. Here’s a list
Standard ghost beats warthog (driver and gunner). I, as the ghost driver, almost always beat the standard warthog in war zone and btb. Any Halo veteran knows this is backwards. (or are all of my opponents just that bad with the warthog?)
Vehicle weight/mass/gravity settings are all out of whack. Yes,I know. Driving pedal to the metal will flip any vehicle, but the center of mass needs to be lowered for the hog and ghost.
2.5 BUT, grenades no longer flip the hog or even the ghost!? Wtf?
Tank mechanics are wonky at best when it’s exploding. If you board a tank and plant a grenade, that causes the tank to start exploding like you’re going to get the kill, but there is, a split second window in which the tank is still susceptible to damage from any source before you get the kill.
What this means is if you plant a grenade in a tank, or be the one that causes it to “die” with a power weapon, if someone is say, shooting it with an SMG while this is happening THEY GET THE KILL and NOT YOU. The player that gets the kill will even have a grenade icon next to the player as if they grenaded it. What a joke.
This is annoying with normal enemy players in tanks but it’s not the end of the world. But Tankmaster Rok is also susceptible to this mechanic. Which is absolutely rage inducing. There have been several times that I’ve reduced his health to nothing and I KNOW it was me that did it, and then someone shoots him after he’s already dying (wraith exploding animation) and steal the kill. It’s not right, and it needs to be fixed.
TDLR: Tanks are broken as crap in this game when it comes to getting a killing blow on one.
The weight for vehicles is way off. They are too bouncy and you can never go full speed like you could in earlier games. A lot of the vehicles are nerfed while infantry weapons are better against them
