Was wondering what the general troops to focus upgrading and creating for UNSC and Banished are. I generally have base creation down pat but I get destroyed when it comes to Troop on Troop combat.

Scouting in general should be a good preface to a good army composition. Being able to catch a player opting for a specific unit and making a counter play serves well during engagements of all sizes. Also learning what builds your enemies are opting for (quick tech/rush/leader) can help you discern a proper course of action.
Although generally speaking, banshees can serve as core air and anti air due to plasma torpedo. Wraith’s are also good in my opinion as are Hunters.
My army usually consists of a mix of Wraiths, Reavers, Goliaths (w/ 1 Skitterer), and Locust. I don’t really build Air. If you don’t play Colony you can replace the Goliaths+Skits with air. I don’t play UNSC that much.
In 3s a vehicle focus for banished is good and a secondary army of air engineers and shrouds is good. In ones you want to go vehicles as your focus, and infantry or vice versa, depends on what they are making.
A balanced army, support with shrouds in case there are enemy kodiaks, engineers for healing and, in general, I recommend spectra, at the UNSC, I recommend using anti-aircraft, vehicles and air, as well as healers and kodiaks to bomb enemy bases, or self defense. (You may be using the sentinel beacon or Serine cryotherapy) Combining it with the hero and the powers of the leader.
