General thoughts on new update

As we seem to mainly agree on 2 and 3 I will answer to point 1.

Delaying the game another would have irritated the community to a high degree and was probably not acceptable for Microsoft on a commercial point of view because they needed this game to release to have their flagship game for the Xbox, it would also have ramped the cost of production considerably and would have required even more profits to balance the initial investment so I doubt having an f2p multiplayer to attract a larger crowd would have been out the question here and even if the game was paid, micro-transactions would still have been considered.

This is 2022 mate, I’m sorry but all major multiplayer games have micro-transactions and are subject to be or become f2p at some point weither we like it or not, personally I don’t mind it, I’m used to it and I know they won’t necessarily impact the quality of a game.

I’ve played a lot of TF2, CSGO and PUBG when they were paid games and free 2 play games and I never minded their economical system because the games were enjoyable without paying (TF2 got out of hands at some point but it died of age more than of any commercial decision Valve made with it).
I also play a lot of MTGArena a game that some consider to be predatory but I’ve been playing for 2 years now and only threw 20 bucks into it without feeling much left behind…

I like Halo Infinite’s multiplayer’s gameplay experience and I can enjoy it without paying even though the game is a bit in a content drought lately, I don’t really care, I’m patient, I go play other games while Infinite gets the content it is supposed to have to entertain me more and still play the game from time to time to have fun with friends…

I’ll give a little precision on your point 2 tho, people who work on MCC are also competent enough to work on Infinite, so it divides the taskforce even if obviously they are 2 separate teams, they could work on Infinite because they have the skills or could relatively rapidly acquire them, I don’t want them to work on Infinite tho, I like to see MCC being supported, but that’s just another bill to pay for 343 to ensure their service and it surely isn’t free for them…

Also regarding your point 3, I personally got into Infinite relatively recently because I had no proper device to play it before that, so I don’t see the content drought in the same harsh view as you do, but I’m sure 343 will deliver, it just takes them time and I can wait and play other games in the meantime because that’s what I do, I rarely focus on only one game…

Oh boo hoo, the whiny fanboys would have to wait another year. We could’ve gotten a years worth of flighting in that time and Infinite would’ve been better off for it.

Literally every F2P game eventually sacrifices quality for microtransactions.

I don’t focus on one game either, but I’m not talking about the content drought alone, I’m talking about how Infinite is the lowest quality, lowest effort entry in the franchise.

I’d have to disagree with that, it’s just that the longer a game lives, the harder it is for the devs to make the experience as engaging and exciting for long time players as it was in the first place, f2p has not much to see with that, except when the game has a clear emphasis on making players pay to enjoy the game, like for example mobile gacha games…

I agree that it is frustrating to see the game suffer from a content drought and see 343 and Microsoft actively sell us garbage cosmetics on their store but those are two uncorrelated things as I said people who make those shiny trinkets are not the guys who are working on the actual content support for the game…

By no means I’m saying Infinite’s multiplayer experience is perfect but it is also not a bad experience either it just fails to retain players because it has a lot to deliver and not enough manpower to deliver it when the fans would like it to…

And how is that? The game is just as enjoyable as Halo 3 or Reach to me if not more in some areas, what makes it frustrating to enjoy for me in the long run is the content drought not the gameplay or map design…

Except many games thrive as f2p in the long run, many MMOs and shooters do, look at Guild Wars 2 and CSGO for example, they are great games that have existed for around 10 years now and they don’t suffer at all from being f2p, quite the opposite actually, f2p brought more players to the game when the population was otherwise decreasing and gave a new breath to those games…

Solid update. Steam workshop will put it over the top eventually.

On the eve of this update I look forward to the new H2A cosmetics and thankful for whatever bug fixes come in. The MCC team has done a bang up job with the collection and look forward to more updates, hopefully they can keep us in the loop more frequently going forward.

What time does the new update drop? I figured it’d be at the normal reset time today.

Maybe it’ll be 2:00 PM EST instead?

Edit: It’s live. I had to restart my Xbox to get it to start. I was playing MCC at 1:00 PM EST so probably the reason for the delay / why it wouldn’t trigger after a force quit of the game.

The ““new”” poses are really ugly. Idk why they decided to add them when anyone who had an opinion on them back during season 8s flight had nothing nice to say about them. It’s like a blemish on an otherwise really nice much needed update.
I can only assume 343 added them is because they had them laying around and said “Eh, might as well.”

The new settings UI is also a bit ugly. I just don’t like how everything is pushed over to the left side.

Kinda lame I can’t buy out all the new cosmetics immediately, I thought it was gonna be its own entry i the catalog.

Gutted it all has to be unlocked via the exchange lol. Been waiting for new content looks like I’ll have to wait some more.

Though so too, a Series 9, but no, every new armor piece in the exchange, just why 343?

Because 343 loves to release as little content as possible in long periods of time, they also like showing content in trailers that never get released

Also theres no favorite menus from our past its all mcc menus that nobody wanted since 2014

This is a new low, no new content on launch day and still no file size increase such a shame considering halo infinite has such little content to

Seems 343 just does what they want and expects us to like what they give

I’m curious how poses will unlock. If it’s a pose for each individual game or unlocking the pose once unlocks it for all titles.

No CQB on infinite (First multiplayer trailer) and no Operator and Spectrum helmets on MCC (Season 5 trailer).

There’s files in the game for another 5 H:Online sets, been there since season 5 and updated icons of those same sets on season 7 but nowhere to be seen officially.

It’s def gonna be for all the games. Having to unlock one for each game would be absolutely ridiculous.

I have a question about the new update, specially with Halo CE:
“ Campaign cutscenes can now be skipped without pressing multiple button inputs.”
Nothing is changed for me? It still forces me to press buttons to get to “press y to skip”.

This is especially frustrating because the “press y to skip” prompt appears in the Jenkins cutscene in Guilty spark automatically (it thinks your last input of moving with the control stick is you trying to get the skip prompt up) and its distracting if you just want to enjoy the cutscene and I tried submitting this as a ticket before but was told to put it in the forums.

So I was hoping this new update meant that prompt would be gone and you could just press any button and it’d skip without the prompt appearing
