Please let me know if I’ve gotten the wrong place and I can get that fixed.), but I’m going to bite the bullet and post this. I want to play online but I’m frankly scared to. I’m sure we’ve all heard “those” horror stories of any community.

It was my brother’s copy and he was babysitting, and I, the very young kid in the scenario, was always watching him play. So he let me play figuring he’d have an easy job. I got pretty good for a 6-7 year old I’m pretty sure. I remember fondly collecting the energy swords and stabbing people. Think I got a rocket launcher with the sword once and destroyed everybody too. Good times.

> Just start playing…you don’t need to talk and you can mute others if you wish. It’ll try to match you to people around your skill (which will take some games for the system to figure out)
Honestly it seems like a basic thing to think about, but I never thought about muting other people. Especially since I’m planning to mostly avoid more team-based gameplay for at least a while to build some sort of skill, I guess you really don’t need to listen to them, huh? If someone wants to be terrible and I can’t hear them, it doesn’t matter.

> Yeah just start playing. Unless you’re trying to break into the competitive scene and become a pro player, who cares if you struggle at first? Lotta sweaty try-hards out there wanting to make a name for themselves, and good luck to em. But if you’re here to enjoy a hobby, then don’t overthink it and just start playing.
Yeah, I’m overthinking it. I overthink literally everything, a problem of mine. Competitive scene definitely isn’t for me though, that’s for sure! I’m all for playing casually, maybe make some friends, have some fun in my free time. I just want to be better than my brother, otherwise not a competitive person.

You might see me, who knows? I’m definitely going to be struggling for a while probably, but eventually I’ll learn if I can manage to get over being so nervous all the time. No one starts out great I know, even though I feel like I’m worse at it than anyone else.

> Hmmm I just jumped right it and got my -Yoink- handed to me for WEEKS, horribly fun time learning how different a MP shooter is from campaign. Maybe start with some more social modes like action sack or find something that sounds fun in custom browser? What game are you playing anyway?
Thanks for mentioning that you weren’t great right off the bat. That’s one of my biggest issues honestly, especially with anything team based, I just don’t want to let anyone down or seem THAT bad. I’ve gone through that stage in campaign, alone, so that’s not a concern of mine anymore but real people are not something that can be memorized.
Right now I’m focused on (Xbox one version of MCC) Halo 2. Most familiar with those controls (By far; LASO and “do three playlists” achievements are my last possible solo ones for Halo 2. LASO is… I’m gonna say interesting.) and I’m working on getting the achievements there first.

> Hey what Xbox Playform do you play on? Maybe we could play sometime. I play Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, and Halo Reach
Hi! I play mostly on the xbox one with the MCC (Mostly Halo 2/2A at the moment but eventually likely all of them in turn, I’ll eventually pick a few favorites I’m sure.), but I do have 5/Guardians as well, and Reach on the 360 I’m planning to tackle at some point too. I’m all over the place.
A big thank you to all of you for replying too! I know it’s again, kinda dorky, but even though a few of you said similar things as I’ve been told before, it’s somehow different in my mind when someone of said community says something versus someone entirely separate from it despite being the same advice.
