So, there probably won’t be Halo 4 at the Microsoft Spring Showcase because Halo 4 has
an embargo that will end on March 5th.
Surprisingly that is when GDC will be. I’m guessing 343 will have something prepared
for it, Also, Frankie said (in OHI) the campaign is PLAYABLE, which can show some minor gameplay, and the multiplayer has been running for some time.
I’m guessing gameplay related stuff for the reveal at GDC, if not, PAX.
I’d rather them show multiplayer than Campaign. Halo 4’s Campaign/story is all about mystery, and not showing the Campaign until the game comes out would add to the mystery of the story.
I’d love the Campaign to be a brand new and “unspoiled” experience when it comes out. Not just for me, but for everyone. It’d be a bit like the first time people played Halo CE, and there was nothing to show that the Flood would be in the game. That’s one of the reasons the Flood in Halo CE are so memorable, because they were a complete mystery and no-one knew about them prior to the game’s release. Hopefuly 343 will do this with the new enemy in Halo 4.
If they just showed multiplayer content, they could still show us how the game plays, looks and feels without spoiling the story for us, and to be honest, I have a good feeling that this is what they’ll be doing.
GDC isn’t really the type of event where a game reveal would happen. I hate to burst your bubble, but GDC presenters often discuss intricacies of games and game development rather than use it as an event to make announcements.

Tons of games were revealed there lmao. If not, gameplay.

If I remember correctly, Epic announced Gears 2 at GDC 08. This was right after Tim Sweeney finished his presentation about Unreal Technology. If anything, if we get info before GDC, I would LOVE a technical and/or design presentation from 343 (If they decide to show that is).
An embargo doesn’t mean they wont release anything. It means news reporters aren’t aloud to report on what Microsoft tells them. This possibly means that Microsoft will show something BEFORE the 3rd but news sites/magazines wont be aloud to report on it. It could also mean that 343 have had interviews with some of these news outlets but these interviews wont be published until after the 3rd. Why would they do this? Simple, to ensure that the content from the interviews doesn’t get out until after they reveal information themselves.
Am I starting to see a running trend?
a few weeks before VGA: “Are they going to show a Halo 4 trailer?”
a few minutes after VGA: “WTF!? Why wasn’t there a Halo 4 trailer?”
a few weeks before CES: “Are they going to show Halo 4 at CES?”
a few minutes after the closing of CES: “Where is mah Halo 4!?”
a few days before the 17th of Jan: “Is there going to be any information on the 17?”
one day after: “Why is there no Halo for information?”
and now: “is there going to be any Halo 4 news at GDC!?”
Can any one guess what’s going to happen when there is no information at the GDC?

> you forgot the superbowl
I don’t mind waiting for the Halo 4 info. It keep me wondering what Halo 4 will be like, and is actually making me more interested in Halo 4 than if they released a trailer as lets say the Superbowl.
