Gandhi's thoughts about Halo 4

I’ll just leave the video here for discussion

I completely agree with everything in the video, and he still doesn’t even cover everything wrong with the game.

I’ve watched all of Gandhi’s Thoughts videos and I agree with just about everything. Actually I don’t think there’s anything I disagree with.

The guy has my full support and I wish him and all of Go Beyond Ent much luck in their endeavor to revive competitive Halo.

What is 343 doing? If halo 5 doesn’t cater at least a LITTLE bit to the competitive side they need to do redo the lead designer. Halo 4 didn’t cater one bit to this crowd and they deserve it, they are only a minority in the halo 4 population.

Yeah… what can I say? I agree on most of it and to be honest I wish the game would have been delayed at least six months and released with most of the problems fixed + descoping added

(UMG passes can be bought here)

This guy understands Halo better than the new developers. He scares me, but he is a genius.

Same here.

…and that is the reason why i DO NOT listen to Pro Players.

What is the reason?

I hate seeing people so frustrated, especially when I feel the same. I just wanna play Halo. We had the perfect game and they just don’t care, gotta reinvent the wheel instead of doin what they’re supposed to for the franchise. So aggravating…

So glad we have Gandhi to verbally communicate how a lot of people feel in the community.

Well, its seems to me, (i don’t want to turn this into a heated discussion), but its like all halo players have to listen to Pro Players on, everything about the game, and when they judge it, almost everyone agrees. Personally, i find that pretty silly. I’ve been a Halo fan since day 1, and i’ve studied the games concept and yet, what this pro player says, I have a different perspective. I think that players should judge the game for themselves.

I don’t agree with him because he’s a “pro player”… I don’t particularly like “pro players”. I agree with him because, well, I agree with what he said. Not because it was him who said it. Someone needed to say it at any rate.

Don’t listen to the man as a pro(he was actually a caster for years, and hasn’t been playing tournaments), listen to him as someone who has been playing the series at such a high level since the very beginning, and is knowledgeable on all things pertaining to Halo multiplayer. There is only one other person I could name that knows more about CE.

I am also in agreement with him. I’m glad Bravo and Quin are on the team and I hope they stand their ground to bring a competitive edge to Halo again.

^^^ This 100%.

I don’t agree simply because of Gandhi’s background. I have judged the game for myself and I have legitimately formed very similar opinions on Halo 4.

His first point about how most people dont seemingly know halo are the ones who are in control of halos development is also evident on the forums. Everyone keeps saying that “i just started in Reach” or “i just started in Halo4”, and we as a community tell each other that we are expected to base their opinions equal with all others out of niceness. Since everyones opinion in this world is based on perspective, it is obvious those with limited perspective have biased and unreasonable opinions. Problem #1.

You should also all read the article: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/191234/making_halo_4_a_story_about_.php?page=3

That was in Gandhi’s description

Every thing that we don’t like about Halo 4 was the root of this. Not everyone that they hired hated Halo, but they clearly hired a substantial amount of people that had played Halo casually at some point and didn’t like it.

It’s during that time you’re questioning yourself: 'How is this going to work, will it be as I envision it in my head?" says Holmes. For Halo 4, he says there were a few epiphany moments that helped boost the morale of the team. One of the earlier ones that Holmes recalls was when the team completed a small piece of the Halo experience that he described as a “very traditional” Halo. User research showed that people thought it was a lot of fun, and it showed that the team was capable of making a Halo game that was true to what the series was about.

343 scrapped it, Holmes says, as it was too traditional.

This could easily be the end of Halo if the team doesn’t change.

Someone didn’t like that Halo didn’t have sprint, so they threw in sprint.
The same is true for killcams, loadouts, x to respawn, hitboxes, descope, etc…

Ghandi, like the Historical figure, belongs/talks of an era long since past. What he hopes and opines for, is something which can possibly be provided in teh next halo in Custom games for those MLG types, or, have another very populated and popular (sacristan) competitive list like Team Throwdown at launch for the competitive types.

Ghandi’s idea of what Halo should be will never be again. Oher than the support of the vocal majority on this forum, which in terms of the entire Halo community, those that like Halo Reach, or Halo 4, or just Halo books, or Halo games,or Halo Red v Blue or all of the Halo franchise products, is very small.

Fact is, the majority of Halo MM players, IMO, based upon the most popular play lists since launch day up until this very post, have been voting with their “A” buttons for a Halo which is not one that Ghandi likes, they being, Infinity Slayer and BTIS. It is 2013, not 2007!

In gaming terms, Ghandi is harking back to things which one might read in a history book or see in a museum. In terms of amusement, 343i should,in my view, provide Ghandi and others with something that satisfies them and can be played to their hearts content in Customs, like most MLG play anyway. MLG/competitive types etc play a Halo that does not resemble that which ships in the case but, a version which has to meet their own agenda. That is OK! No problem with that at all. But, IMO, the MLG, Ghandhi et al type of Halo is not what the majority of daily Halo MM players want, the ranking of social and competitive play lists in terms of population shows that fact.

The reality, whether Ghandi and others want to see it or, continue to look through retrospective rose colored glasses, is that the Halo they once knew ain’t coming back.

The majority of Halo players haven’t been voting with their A button.

They’ve been voting with their disc trays, unless you mean using the A button to start other games in said trays.
