“The game’s gotta work right out of the box.” I appreciate Bungie giving us so many options, and I get what they were trying to do, but it doesn’t really work well as a game that way. That coupled with the fact that 343 fixed a number of issues we were all having with the game, and Reach does feel like a mess of game types and play styles. It slices up the community, it keeps people away because of unfamiliarity in other playlists, and the forge world idea although great for making tons of content gets hard to look at these days.
MLG…Team Slayer, honestly all the playlists should have the same core vibe and be easily recognizable as game mechanics and map layouts go. I think this really broke up the community, which can easily be proven with Xbox Live numbers and MLG viewership.
I really hope Halo 4 addresses these issues and gives us all the same core experience in the next game, so we can all enjoy it together and be a nicer, happier community:)
Also I needs me a kick butt campaign 343 dont let me down there either!

Forge is great but can be better. Reach didn’t slice up the community, everyone has different ideas of fun, just because we don’t all like to play MLG or slayer doesn’t mean that custom games is a bad idea. Let people choose what they want. More options and content makes for a better game. Reach kept people away due to poor matchmaking and too many bugs/glitches that are still unfixed today.
Even though I don’t agree entirely with what you said about Reach, I can understand where you’re coming from. Also, I appreciate that you didn’t go with the typical, “GAH REECH ISN’T HAYLOW.” So thanks for that in addition to being constructive.
Forge World was the response that most Forgers and Custom Game fans wanted. A huge Multiplayer Sandbox with a vast amount of creation tools and locations to build from and its set on the lush and green plains of Installation 04 or HALO. Forge World IS the forging paradise that people had been asking. There have been so many creations that have spawned from it and there are more people creating stuff as we speak.
To take away that concept is to well… Take away the ambitions and enjoyment of the Forging Community. I understand your concerns that too much diversity will have a possibility of fragmenting the Halo Community but I can say this in response.
Halo: Reach is a Sandbox Game that was created to have diversity in its mind which was core. Bungie wanted to make the game they always wanted and they also wanted to let players do whatever they want with the game. They truly gave Halo to the fans and 343 Industries and things like Forge World are sure-fire proof of this. Even if Halo: Reach plays brilliantly for me and like a piece of broken cogs for others, the idea for Reach was creationism.
We had Foundry, We had Sandbox, We got Forge World, Tempest, Ridgeline and High Noon for forging as well.
Taking away that kind of creative diversity will set an extremly bad example for 343 Industries and Halo.
