Gaming Monitor - Halo 5 experience

Hello there,

I’m playing Halo for a long time now on my 40something" TV. I’m thinking about buying a gaming monitor and was wondering if someone who uses one can tell me the differences/ or if this even makes one.

I’m not a “pro gamer” but I like the game and I want to have a good setup.

Maybe someone can tell me if it’s worth it to change to a smaller monitor.

Thank you

When I get my 28" 4K Monitor at Christmas I will tell you. And I am serious, I will tell you.

I use a 28 inch 1080p monitor, nothing fancy but it is a better experiance

That would be great, I’m curious now!

Thank you. Does maybe the aiming feels better on a smaller Monitor?

Also if I get one with 144Hz does it even work with the 60fps xbox?

I use a 10 foot screen from a 1080p home theater projector.

I’ve also used a 23 inch 1080p gaming monitor.

It’s really all about optimal viewing distance. The issue with normal TVs of the 40 to 60 inch range (other than input lag if they don’t have a game mode) is that a typical living room set up has you sitting further away from the screen then the ideal distance for gaming. Given a 1080p screen with low input lag, if you are sitting at a distance that allows the screen to fill the center of your field of view, but not extend into your peripheral vision where your motion acuity drops off, then screen size doesn’t matter that much.

Gaming monitors, apart from being designed for low input lag, are better than TVs because it is easier to accommodate the optimal viewing distance in a desk top step up.

it is really about viewing distance really. I tend to prefer smaller screen and a closer viewing distance mostly because I find is difficult to notice small movements and detail and a greater distance on a larger screen.

To answer your question, 60Hz is the safer route mostly because console games lock frame rates. PC gamers tend to like higher Hz rates because they have the option to have games with unlocked fps and refresh rates. 144Hz could potentially cause ghosting, it wont always happen but the safer route may be to get a 60Hz monitor, especially if all your going to use it for is the xbox. Plus since the console cant get above 60 fps (if it gets that) having a 144Hz monitor would be a waste of money due to your inability to fully use its power. Save your money, get a 60Hz monitor and it will work fine.

I am by no means an expert on this, there are plenty of forums you can probably research the topic.

I switched from a 40" to a Samsung 32". for me personally, it helped with my accuracy from 46-50 to 55-63. I don’t have a big screen where I look everywhere. the 32" is big enough to watch movies and chill or play games. If you want a true gaming monitor, go for a 27". It’s the perfect size for a desk gaming setup. I just used my 19" Gaems Vanguard when I travel and that’s good for me. from what I know of so far unless they released new monitors/tvs, 4ks are only on 40" and bigger. But if you don’t have an xbox s no need to go for it. Stick with a 1080p/60hz.
This is after I moved to the 32". almost every shot contacted

I’m currently playing on a 44" plasma screen, though I may soon be playing on a 66" 4K screen over the holidays.
