Gametype Ideas and Discussion

So, I spent some time thinking of gametype ideas, because why not? I figured maybe someone could create them in Halo 5, or maybe by chance 343i actually sees this post, and considers them to be added to Halo 5 or Halo 6. This thread is open to discussion of gametype ideas here, whether they be your ideas or mine. Please, share some of your ideas! If I come up with more, I’ll add them too.

  • HotspotTwo teams fight for control of a moving zone that periodically grants powerful weapons, as well as points for the teams controlling it. As the match progresses, the weapons spawned become more and more powerful. For example, at the start, the zone would drop things like shotguns. Around halfway through you might be seeing stuff like grenade launchers. Then near the end, you’ll be seeing the really powerful stuff. Like rocket launchers. The objective is still quite simple though, just control the zone to earn points. First team to the point limit would win. The fact the zone periodically spawns these powerful weapons would spice things up though.

  • Tick TockFree for all mode, where each player is set on a 30 second timer upon spawning. When a player’s timer reaches zero, they explode. The catch is that every player only has one life. Killing other players adds more time to your timer. Last one alive wins the round. The explosion from you dying can kill other players near you as well, so if you know you can’t possibly kill anyone to save yourself, might as well bring someone down with you. To be honest I’m not sure how many round there’d be to this, but since I feel it’d be pretty fast paced, I’d say like 5 rounds?

  • GamblerTeam or free for all mode where each player spawns with magnum. However, upon killing an enemy, their current weapon is switched out for a random new weapon. Basically a twist on slayer, just get enough kills to win. However, getting an assassination on a player will restrict them to a magnum for their next life.

Those are the gametypes I’ve thought of so far. I personally think that Hotspot would be a really fun mode (then again I think these all would be fun). Leave your thoughts on how mine and other’s modes sound, and share some of your own ideas. Oh, and leave actual thoughts or ideas, I don’t want some post that just says a mode is bad or good without any actual explanation, or someone who barely explains their idea. Other than that, have fun!

Survival race: infection gametype except one mag in shotgun one mag in a magnum and there is no weapons on map and you are in a race track looking map and have to run and stay away from infected (dont know if its a custom game or not so sorry if it is)

BTB / Warzone Infection: Essentially Infection on steroids, there’s more of everything. More weapons, access to basic Scout Hogs / Mongooses (and nothing more), and the infected are stronger and faster. Maps would be in ruins, obstructing roads and rooms have multiple entrances of getting inside.

Halo Hello:
We create our spartans and then get to walk around and explore different locations (like a space bar) and just chat. There’s a few mini games, and we can go bowling. We also get our own apartments and invite people over and just pretty much hang out.
It’s a lot like Playstation Home.

I love all of the op’s ideas. anyways I’ve got 2 ideas one of them not so original but here it is

Warzone Fiesta
basically regular warzone but you only use random weapon and random vehicle cards. it does not actually use your reqs so everyone has an equal chance of getting a good req item, and you still need to earn enough req energy to access the higher random cards. as for loadout weapons they are also random but they are based on your req level. meaning if you’re level 4 then you might spawn with a halo 2 br and a kinetic bolt ar but you can’t spawn with a recon dmr until you reach that level.

Operations
operations would be like the ultimate suped up warzone on steroids. basically you got the 2 teams but 1 team has to complete objectives and the other team has to stop them. the objectives will be randomized and you’ll have to complete 3-5 objectives, however they will not all happen at once unless it’s a situation where you have to defend 2 separate points or eliminate multiple targets. the objectives would involve

  • defend the point(s) - destroy the generator - eliminate player (randomly selects a player on the other team and the team that has to stop the objective completion must defend the heck out of that player or they better find a good hiding spot.) - eliminate the boss (this might be when a boss spawns in and the defending team gets to do something we have always wanted to do but we just didn’t know it, fight along side covenant or promethean forces.) - survive (for this round only there is no respawn timer for the attacking team and atleast 1 member has to survive for 2 minutes.) - extraction (the game will always end with an extraction round. there will be a sense of randomness though meaning you won’t know which team is extracting until it happens and the point will be random. the goal will be to eliminate every player, with no respawn like titanfall. however the pelican (or heck let’s make it falcons so people can access the turrets) will not take off until every team member is either aboard or killed meaning if a player is missing on the battle field, the team thats trying to escape will have to sit in the ship and try to kill the other team thats shooting them up. to avoid the extracting team hunting down the other team instead of leaving, the team that is hunting does have a respawn timer but the escaping team will have a slight shield boost to give them a chance to make it.)

I’ve been thinking about making a forge map for something like this, glad to know people might actually like the idea so I’ll get started on that. might not be as good as a what you’re suggesting but why not

That Operations mode seems pretty interesting, reminds me of Invasion in a way. I think it’d be pretty fun.

Sounds like a typical social hub, just much bigger. I don’t see why not, I mean, even CoD’s doing a social hub now with Headquarters in WW2.

Just thought up a new idea!

  • FortressAn objective mode where one team must defend their fortress from the attacking team by utilizes it’s varying defenses (Turrets, barricades, vehicles, etc.) to kill the attackers before they can breach the fortress. Attackers must breach the fortress by trying to get into the front, rear, or side entrances. To do so, they must carry a bomb to the desired entrances and blow it up. Upon doing so, phase 2 begins, where the defenders now must defend their fortress’ generator room from the attackers, who must enter and destroy the generators by any means necessary. If the attackers manage to destroy the generators before the time limit, the final phase begins. In phase 3, the core room is now open, and attackers must destroy the core by planting a specialized bomb capable of doing so and defending it until detonation. The defenders must try to prevent the attackers from doing so. Upon the bomb being planted however, attackers must make sure the defenders don’t defuse the bomb or else the defenders win.

If you need a more tidy explanation of that:
Multi-phase objective mode where attackers must destroy multiple objectives to ultimately bring down the defender’s base.
Defenders have access to many defenses such as turrets, barricades, and vehicles.
Attackers have access to an assortment of vehicles perfect for a siege on the defender’s base.
There are three phases:
Phase 1 has the attackers trying to plant a bomb to breach an entrance to the defender’s base.
Phase 2 has the attackers trying to destroy the base’s generators.
Phase 3 has the attackers trying to destroy the base’s core via a special bomb that must be defended, as the defenders can defuse it which grants them instant victory.

Mildly inspired by Invasion from Halo: Reach, but with more in-depth gameplay I guess.

Assimilation:

  • 2 teams, 4v4 - kill members of the opposing team to convert them to your own side - whichever team is completely assimilated first winsIt’s like Infection, only both sides can infect.

That actually sound like a lot of fun. Huh.
