Gametype Idea: War (12 vs 12)

Sorry about the lame name of my gametype idea but whatever. The basic idea is that we have a 24 player gametype that allows a great mix of vehicular and infantry combat.

Gametype:
The gametype would be a mix of CTF, Assault, and Territories. Each team is tasked with either taking the enemy’s flag, planting a bomb at the enemy’s base, or holding the territory in the enemy base. It would allow for an increasingly dynamic match, where at one point the enemy may be trying to steal your flag or plant a bomb, or they may even be doing those two things at the same time. The match would be won when 2 of the 3 objectives are completed or the time runs out. Additionally, if need be, several territories littered between bases can be placed to encourage map flow and additional points. Furthermore, the gametype can be made as UNSC vs Covenant/main antagonist for vehicle/weapon variety (like Invasion) or just plain old UNSC vs UNSC or Covies vs Covies.

The idea is to give a “realistic” feel in one gametype with encouraged teamwork and realistic wartime scenarios, hence the name “War.”

Maps: The maps in the game would be set up similar to current CTF maps, but less linear with multiple paths to take, which also will increase the dynamic feel of the gametype (at one point enemies will attack from one side, then the other, or both at the same time.) Each base has a main structure which holds the objectives at different places inside of it. There is also a secondary “outpost” type base which is where the team will spawn if the enemy is inside the main structure.

Spawning: At the start of the match, half of the players will spawn at the main structure and half at the outpost (both base structures will contain and equal number and type of vehicles.) The reason for the splitting is to help set up an initial strategy and reduce player crowding in one place.

Vehicles: Vehicles would have to be implemented in a way the with all vehicles filled at the same time (excluding passengers) there should still be 3+ infantry. Vehicle respawn times would also be staggered. For example, if there are two warthogs per team, one would respawn at say, 60 seconds, and the other at 100 or 120. Obviously, more powerful vehicles would have longer respawn times than others. Vehicle sets would include:
-transports (mongooses/equivilent/multi-person)
-recon (warthogs/equivilent)
-heavy (tank/equivilent)
-air (attack transport and transport dropship)
-artillery (stationed turrets/cannons)
-amphibious/aquatic vehicles depending on map

I don’t know if 343 is even trying to increase player count, but hopefully they are, so gametypes can become even more varied with more possibilities. Even a 10 vs 10 would be a great improvement!

Hopefully some people will like my idea, and maybe 343 will take notice, if it’s not too late.

I think it’s a great idea because it gives a feeling of invasion, and yet at the same time it gives an even greater feel of objective.

that would be good, also would love a whole bunch of ai enemies running around to annoy you.

Errr… I don’t know what 343 is doing with the game engine, but 20 or 24 players would be a push from the previous 16. How about we focus on having actual players in the match and then worry about bots.

I’ll take any suggestions into consideration, btw.

Hmmm… I hate bumping but this thread is getting drowned out by a bunch of the same threads over and over again, and people are starting to copy-cat it.

Good idea. A full out war gamemode is just what Halo 4 needs. They’ve already got us up to 16 player matches, so what harm could 8 more do? I demand a game type with more people. Now.

24 players would be awesome.

Good luck coordinating that 12 players though.

What exactly do you mean by coordinating? The assets are there, it’s up to the players to figure out how they want to use them. Maybe no party chat allowed?

I believe he means getting your team to work together, which yes, would be difficult.

That could slightly be negated with having a VIP type player that has a marker on him to follow, or the other way would be no party chat, which I myself find to be extremely annoying in many games.

I think it could work so long as people work together.

An even bigger big team battle with a side of objective and infantry transport vehicles… I like it!

Again, I’m pretty sure he means in game chat and just in terms of co-ordinated attack. IMO the VIP idea is unnecesary anyways.
