Alright, so whether or not vehicles are treated like paper mache in Halo 4, the vehicles of Halo have had enough of Spartans sticking them, boarding them, sniping them, lasering them, and generally causing mayhem on their poor, mangled chasis.
In this fun little gametype idea, you just need a fairly large, mobile map. Some obstacles/cover, etc. It would likely be set for BTB, meaning around two teams of 8 players. (Unless we get the beloved 16-v-16 we all hope and dream for :3)
Opposing teams will spawn in a “base” of their own, with barriers that can only be exited through, not entered. This base will be a large garage of vehicles: Tanks, aircraft, warthogs, etc. Imagine there’s about two tanks, two aircraft, several medium-sized vehicles, and several small-sized vehicles. Players will be given insignificant weapons on the spawn with possibly no ammo.
This leaves them with one option: Board a vehicle and pass through your energy barrier. In this way, players are effectively using vehicular combat only, with none of the usual gimmicks used to take out vehicles on foot. Hi-jacking would still be viable for those who could get close enough, and the “garage” bases of the two sides would be designed and spread out in a way to avoid spawn-traps.
In this way, players would get to experience massive firefights with warthogs constantly skirting around pillars to avoid tank fire, banshees coming in fast and low to bombard their ground-bound counterparts, etc. Even if Halo 4 never included such a gametype, I’d like to try and design a custom for it. :3 I may very well begin testing this idea out on Reach.
