My idea is based upon a more strategic gametype with inspiration from RTS titles with some tower defense ideas thrown in. It aims to add more strategy and tactics to Halo.
Its a 5v5 team game
The game revolves around 3 main new aspects: Resources, Buildings, and The Core.
-Resources are your main objective in this game. They’re points awarded for kills. Like the current Halo 4 scoring system additional points are awarded for medals and killing other players with lots of resources. Once you die your resources reset to 0.
-Buildings are a support item in the gametype. They’re small cores that are spawned in pairs (they respawn once one is captured) and can be carried like a flag in stockpile. Each team has a few places they can drop them off, with a different effect based on where you drop them. These effects range from a auto turret to a radio tower that buffs your team. These buildings however are destructible
-The Core is the point the game revolves around. Its a self erecting structure in the middle of each teams base. The core automatically starts building when a team member gains resources and stops when no team members have any resources. Players can sneak into enemy bases and hack these cores to make the core temporarily stop progressing until the hacker is killed.
-Progress is i the style of territories with points automatically being added based on resources.
-Players win when their team reaches a certain number of points.
What do you guys think?
So you want invasion to return?
> So you want invasion to return?
This is in no way like invasion. Invasion was round based and featured objective based gameplay. This is a single round gametype that has multiple smaller tiered objectives leading up to one big one
I agree this is basically if invasion and head hunter had a baby that was into building things. It basically has the same points as invasion but is all going on at the same time. I think it would be very confusing. I bet you put a lot of hard work into this idea but it seems to difficult to do it all at the same time. Or if you would have 3 sepret stages to do each thing then it would be more easily handled but that is basically how invasion is now in reach.
I’m not sure if it’s just the way you explained it but that sounds like the single most confusing game ever created.

Headhunter I understand since its one of the inspirations I used to make sure this idea was tethered to halo so it wouldn’t get out of hand (the others where territories and regicide) but I really don’t see much comparison to Invasion. Maybe the multiple objectives idea?
Also its hard to describe properly without showing but the other objectives would be very VERY subtle with your main objective being gather resources. Your main focus is still a slayer type kill enemies to get points with rewards for special kills and staying alive.
Things like the buildings are for support only, and the core is just a unified idea to help players understand what they’re trying to do. These just allow players to differ there play style and keep the game from promoting overly aggressive gameplay. You can completely ignore them and still kick -Yoink- but there’s a benefit for going out of your way for them.

to put it at its simplest, imagine headhunter, stockpile, regicide, and territories had a baby
> to put it at its simplest, imagine headhunter, stockpile, regicide, and territories had a baby
That liked to play in buildings. You cat forget the buildings. Also would this be all happening at the same time or not.

Yes it would all be happening at the same time but again, the building and core aspects run in the background so you can focus on gathering resources
There, rewrote the OP to give a more clear idea of what I’m going for here and make it a bit more approachable
I get it, and it sounds like it could be a ton of fun. Although I think it might work better as a btb gametype. 5 players seems like too few to handle so many different objectives.

sounds awesome. I can see the mad mongoose runs for the data cores now
Dude i feel ya I love invasion but there is a gametype in halo 4( hasn’t been revaled yet I’m a beta tester (intervalal beta)) It has some of thos aspects you listed but much more fun and different just you wait bro its awesome.

Well that is some good news but I would REALLY love to see some people draw connections that I’m obviously not seeing between this and invasion. Maybe that I didn’t mention this is all in 1 round or something?
Well its kinda like invasion its in one round I can’t tell you the extact details but its instand of cores its bases and you use them for something and they help you It will be revaled soon trust me! Im srry i can’t tell you every detail (im NOT going to be the one who leakeds this game type really srry bro)

I do not see what you are talking about, best explained if you like.
