I would obviously have to agree with their thoughts. I don’t see how anyone could disagree honestly. Using reach’s MP instead of HCE’s was a horrendous misstep.
“They essentially ignored that part of the game. Which is arguably the biggest part of the game(the MP.) It’s what made it a sensation”
“They really really cheat players out of that part of the game”
“imagine if they just forgot about the updated graphics and just gave you the original HCE MP to play online. That would be sick” “cool, I would be fine with that.” “I would be down with that”
You’re going to notice people blindly saying what 343i tells them… About separating the Reach community this and that…
BUT I say WHAT Reach community?! Halo 4 is RIGHT around the corner and what’s the difference if you separate the Reach community a little bit now anyway? There IS NONE! Clearly those people have not thought about the tons of people who flocked to other games such as CoD who LOVED Halo 1 multiplayer and hate Reach’s style… so I think we’d actually GET MORE PEOPLE BACK to Halo.
Blind sheep are blind my friend. Be prepared to face the overwhelming comments as such.
All the ‘options’ divide the community as well. If you have the people who prefer the classic/competitive style of Halo and the people who swear by AAs and abuse the words 'variety 'and ‘evolution’ in every post, and neither venture of their respective areas (anniversary playists and vanilla playlists), how’s that any different than ‘fragmenting’ the community by enabling online MP for CE?

Exactly. I’m wondering based on these first few posts if people will be too scared to comment in this thread now lol…
sigh Just another cocky website who don’t know the real reasoning behind it.
Halo CE Multiplayer was NEVER made to have Xbox LIVE Compatibility, it was released in 2001, heck, Multiplayer itself barely made it it.
343i commented countless times during the run up from the Announcement at E3 until the release, if we tried to add LIVE Capabilities to Halo CEA, it would have changed the way the game felt and ultimately, would have ruined your experience.
Another reasoning behind it but wasn’t the main part is that it would have split the population of Halo: Reach which they didn’t want to do.
Personally I prefer a functioning Multiplayer on Reach with Classic settings than having a non-functioning multiplayer and just a remastered campaign.
Gametrailers, if you somehow read this, do some research.
343i has said many times that it was impossible to add an online component in the time frame they had. They gave us an amazing remastered campaign and very fun, classic multiplayer remastered, too.
Yet another group of people who let Nostalgia do the talking instead of their Brains.
Comments and Remarks as this are almost as silly as the Anti-Modern Sonic Fans. The ones who claim that Classic Sonic is the best. Here’s looking at you IGN.

I don’t believe that for one second. I would’ve taken a remastering of the campaign to HD so they could focus on the multiplayer any day over the laggy remake we received.

i thought CEA was just a remastered version of CE with the option to switch back to the old graphics…
HCEA was always going about the campaign… A celebration of ten years of Halo, & a reward for the fans. The MP that’s been added is a bonus, & should be treated as such.
If the guys at GT want to kick off about it, so what… they’ve just missed the whole point of what this game is about. As I think probably quite a few poster’s in this thread have, & will as well.

They remodeled and put another graphics engine on top of the old CE engine. They could’ve used that time to focus on the netcode for multiplayer instead of making the graphics they used for the remake ;]

What? Since when has Campaign in Halo ever outshined the multiplayer? Halo 1’s multiplayer is the main reason why we have MLG today and tons of other competitive tournaments for consoles before that…
Although I love the story and universe of Halo… the multiplayer is what gives it legs and allows it to thrive.

huh?
> I would’ve taken a remastering of the campaign to HD so they could focus on the multiplayer any day over the laggy remake we received.
to remaster to HD they have to spend the time re-modeling everything and the origional CE engine wasn’t capable of handling the HD graphics so they used a new one.
343i also said that adding XBL to the original multiplayer would break it though they could have at-least done it for people who want to take it to lans and such just without XBL capabilites but even the n people would still complain.
also, it is fine to build the multiplayer on an already exist multiplayer because all the hard work is already done and all that is needed doing is more or less just fine tuning it to get the feel right but lets not forgot that halo reachs multiplayer was based around CE making it the perfect choice.
Forge, file share, screenshots, theatre, detailed custom game settings.
Without these, multiplayer maps are worthless to me. If the focus was placed on the original CE multiplayer i would likely play 2 or 3 games on each map then never put the disk in again.
OP, do you understand that recreating the CE multiplayer would takes YEARS to pull off? There simply wasn’t enough time and resources available to do such a feat in the allotted time 343i had. They wanted to release CEA on the 10th Anniversary of the Halo franchise, then redirect their attention back to Halo 4. Recreating the CE multiplayer, which woud have been pretty cool, would have pushed CEA’s launch date until well beyond 2012.
And for those reasons, I’m satisfied with what 343i chose to do. It’s sad that people, including the ignorant “staff” at Gametrailers, complain about not having something when they don’t understand why it wasn’t possible to begin with. It’s no better than saying “I want my 4-year-old to drive my Lamborghini! Why can’t he drive my Lamborghini?! He sucks!”
They couldn’t do the multiplayer in the time they had, even if they didn’t do campaign at the same time. Doing the multiplayer, which they would have to practically start from scratch because the original isn’t compatible with Xbox LIVE, would take too long and wouldn’t meet the 10th Anniversary deadline. Also, why would they be putting so much work to a side project while they could be working on a major release like Halo 4.
I’m glad 343 made the multiplayer section the way they did. I like Reach. CE’s multiplayer was fun but if they remade it with the new graphics or even just made it online capable it would be horrible to play. There are so many things that people can abuse and people will abuse them. There are a lot things that they’d have to change to make the online play fun. Plus, 343 have given a lot of reasons as to why they didn’t remake the multiplayer aswell (for some reason people just seem to ignore them).
We’re lucky enough to get a remake of the Campaign in the first place. If they did remake the multiplayer, it wouldn’t be as fun as you remember it.
