so if Gamestop wont sell consoles with a digital download. Does that mean we get a physical copy instead with the consol bundle?
What are you talking about?
I have no idea but that is what i’m assuming. For games like Halo I buy limited or collectors editions so i prefer digital in that sense. However i do feel as if Gamestop are a bit irrational in this new policy. The seize in digital bundles became active do to the fact Gamestop does not receive profit on the digital games. There are other ways Gamestop makes their money through used games and accessories. Many gamers are not in favor of Gamestop’s business practices and often feel cheated out when returning a game or accessory or even buying a console for that matter when it comes to Gamestop.

Gamestop announced a new policy stating console bundles will no longer come with digital games, only physical copies.

Hahaha what a joke, I just read the advert. So they wont be selling the H5 console at all then? I’m so glad I stopped doing business with them years ago.
Wow is their a source that says this some people will flip tables for not getting their digital version and installed earlier.
I understand why but in doing so they may lose out on sales doesn’t make sense
although I’m purchasing all new titles digitally.
Why must it always be one or the other? Give people a choice of which version they want!

I do the same, and every time someone gives me a gamestop gift card I completely use it entirely on Microsoft store cards they sell.
So what are they gonna do? Retroactively cancel a bunch of Halo preorders?

They cancelled preorders on the Ghost edition of Destiny, wouldn’t be anything new for them.
Yeah I think it’s just more likely they will refuse to sell the Halo 5 edition console. (And any other digital download edition consoles as well.)

It’s either that or, they manually take out all the digital codes and give the customer a physical copy instead, and use the codes from the cards to sell them as downloads that they print on your receipt to people who just wanna buy the digital copy of the game at a later date.
Kind of defeats the purpose though and highly doubtful they’d go through all that trouble.

sooo…basically every Xbox bundle?
You guys know why they’re doing this, right? I’m 95% sure it’s a marketing ploy, a huge chunk of their sales is selling used copies. Well a lot of people tend to buy bundles for cheap and end up selling or trading their games from the bundles. (I did that when I bought the white Destiny PS4, I jsut wanted the white system but already had Destiny on the Xbox.) Gamestop is clearly trying to keep firm ground on physical releases because the transition to digital affects them pretty radically.

Except they can’t do that. That’s merchandise tampering, and is a crime.
Not to mention they are contractually obligated not to resell the codes. The whole “Not for individual resale” subscript with bundling. There’s been a deep seeded feud brewing between console developers and Gamestop for a while now, and I think this could be the start of where things get ugly.

That’s true! Sorry, I was being completely sarcastic when I typed that.

While they may not be able to do that diectly, they could make a deal with MS to have GS exclusive bundles that come with physical copies or maybe the opt-out that the Halo LCE is doing for digital to physical for all console bundles.

It isn’t a ploy, Gamestop is tired it switching digital codes with physical copies. Lots of people apparently prefer a physical copy in a console bundle. Especially when the code that comes with your console has already been used.
Gamestop no longer wants to put up with switching the code for discs anymore, so they created a new policy.
I think a disk would be awesome
