Ranks please. This is just embarrassing. It’s really unfair for casuals to get matched against a dominant TO5. It’s also why I never run h4 by myself anymore.

What’s a quadgoose?
I think Trueskill gets used together with good connection criteria in the background, but if a good match can’t be found in a certain time it starts looking for less than optimum matches (possibly including poor connections and poor skill matches). I’m not sure but I think that’s right.
Was the population pretty healthy when you found this game?
That’s one of the annoying things about the decreasing population - poor skill/connection matches are more likely.

True skill is worse than Reach when team mates go -10 and -15 tells me there isn’t one, at least in Halo 3 we had a good chance if we avoided boosters and second accounts.
thers are no search preferences in H4, I live in Aus and match up against USA and Mexico at 7pm my time (Prime halo time)which is like 3am overseas… Yet, I still can’t get a game with an Aussie.

Corrected.
It doesn’t bother me if they introduce a visible ranking system or not. If it makes some people happy/more likely to stick with the game then I say add it in, but for me personally, it’s unnecessary.
I still believe there’s a trueskill formula working in the background. I think you’re wrong on that point.

A goose is when a player completes a game (or in this case quits out, which wouldn’t have changed that team’s outcome anyway since we were specifically try-harding it for that purpose) without getting a kill. Quadgoose = 4 players got goosed.
Out of the oddball games I play in a day, for example, I only ever get 1-3 good games (They feel somewhat competitive and aren’t easy as hell) worth the “GG” post match, but well over half the time, my team absolutely obliterates.
Why? The other team is severely out-matched, and if there were ranks, it would be like 50s facing 20s most of the time.

Oh there clearly is a skill system in the background it just doesnt work. It has never worked in any of the Halos where it existed. I remember most of my social games in Halo 3 being steak dinner games whereas the ranked games were far closer.
The social games of Halo 3 also attempted to use a hidden system for the same purpose and it didnt work then because its just not really possible for a system like that to work perfectly when compared to a visible rank system.
Screw ranks. This game is screwed anyway. Why? The connection is total rubbish. If they matched games by true skills, it’ll all be laggy. Cause heck look, matchmaking now, trying to MATCH ANYONE in the game is laggy like hell.

OK, thanks.
Never heard that term with regards to Matchmaking before.
I’ve heard of a ‘Duck’ in cricket where someone scores zero runs. It’s kind of the same I guess.

In the “background” - exactly. My TO5 (or 4, or whatever never loses). True skill in this game is a joke, I never go negative. Halo 4 is boring. I’ve logged 8 games in 2013. It’s not fun, because there is no incentive or challenge.
Just curious, why are visible ranks unnecessary? You supplied no reason or opinion.
Here is my reason for why they are important -
There is a direct correlation to why the population was so low on Reach and H4 post launch, and guess what? Neither game contained the ranked matchmaking experience that was the norm in H2 and 3. Visible ranking allows for that incentive to strive to be the best, always going into every game with your game face on.
If the above doesn’t sound like you, don’t worry there is always Social matchmaking (which we have never bashed and demanded must be removed).
