Gamertag Change

Does anyone know what happens when I change my gamertag, will my stats for all Halo games just continue like normal? Is there any problems I will encounter in any way? And will my name on this forum change to my new name or is it locked as it is now?

No you will lose your stats unless you play the games quickly. For example I played halo 2 online under a different gamer tag, same account, and I lost all my halo 2 stats but still have my halo CE, halo 3, reach and other halo games recorded. You just need to play them quick to refresh the server.

Just remember what is more important to you. Especially if you have logged halo 2 stats. You will permanently lose them on HaloWaypoint. But they will be tracked to the old gamer tag.

Ok, thanks

Its a mixed bag really. I changed my gt in 2011 and my halo stats are there still, but possibly because they were linked to bnet wayyyy back when.

If you change your tag halo 2 stats are gone forever. However all other game stats will update once you play an online game on each with your new tag.

Anyone know if waypoint will count the new MCC stats on top of all the old stats or if you play the new MCC Halo 2, you can “earn” waypoint achievements towards the original Halo 2 game?

Stats for the MCC will start from scratch, nothing from your older Halo games will transfer over. You won’t lose them though, they will still be attached to your account as they always have been. Achievements are also separate - there are, currently, 450 achievements for MCC. Some of them mimic the original ones, but most are new. So this gives you the chance of adding 4500 gamerscore to what you have already
