Gameplay mechanic ideas

So by now we all know there are two more haloes coming up. Thus, I made this post to share some ideas I have in mind for halo 5 or 6. Now I know these will probably not be in the game but this is just some ideas I would like to share that might add to the game while retaining the halo feel. Feel free to add your ideas too! Be creative!

Firstly, I was thinking of a vehicle to vehicle boarding function. One vehicle must be at very close proximity before the boarding vehicle has the option to do so. This would encourage more vehicle drivers to be cautious (like they already are) and simultaneously make vehicle combat more interesting. When option is made, player jumps out of vehicle and keep the reticle on the enemy vehicle. A trajectory will be made as the person holds down whatever button that causes the boarding. Of course, if enemy vehicle moves away, player just lands on ground. If successful, climbs on vehicle per norm.

Equipment and enhancers

Secondly, is a more drastic change to the sandbox. Following along the lines of equipment, yet similar to armor abilities. You don’t spawn with them, (balanced playing field) they are located on the map but have limited usage (think Bioshock infinite’s vigors) once used up cannot be refueled however, gotta wait for respawn. However, another addition I thought of are enhancers. These devices, as the name implies, enhance the equipment, but they are one time used.

For instance, if you have say a “battery” enhancer and a bubble shield equipment, you can deploy the shield like a drop shield in reach as an armor ability style, until the battery limit is depleted. If you have the “magnet” enhancer, you can either deploy equipment or carry it around with you. Imagine a bubble shield moving with you. On the other hand, without any enhancer, the bubble shield will roll down hill (remember old halo 3 footage?) jetpack (if still there) will also have limited traits. Eg (fours times use before no juice) with magnet, jetpack can be deployed on the ground like a mine, push back enemies chasing you.

Of course these are just ideas that I came up with, so do not take them seriously, just something to consider and laugh about. Have fun and share your own ideas to innovate halo too! :slight_smile:

Hey great ideas but i was thinking that maybe instead of weapon drops from ordinance we could have equipment and armor abilities. This would help balance ordinance a little more.
