Gameplay features in halo infinite

I understand everyone’s interest in classic mechanics returning. I partially agree with this position but I also have some objections. I think that thruster pack having its own button is a waste of a button. It would be better if thruster pack was used as it was actually intended- in zero G for movement. That would be cool.
I’m not personally opposed to sprint and clamber however. Sometimes I just like to run a little faster to get behind cover better, and I would get annoyed in the classic games when I was like “OMG GET BEHIND THAT ROCK” but i couldnt move fast enough. Clamber is just a quality of life improvement in my opinion.
This is a new feature, but I think that Halo should switch to a three gun loadout system. It would be two primaries and a pistol, or some type of specialty weapon. I think it’s dumb that 343 tries to make pistols as powerful as fully automatic rifles. The pistol should serve as a backup weapon that is not as good as the primaries but still useful. A few other games use this system and I think it works out well.
I also think that bullet timing should return. But not just for certain weapons, all weapons. This adds to the skill gap and it is more realistic. Games like battlefield have been -Yoink!- it successfully for years, and I think halo should follow suite.
Destructible environments should also be implemented. I want a 26th century battlefield with destructible environments. It would just be awesome.
I would also like to see larger play spaces, more AI, better AI, a much higher player count (like 100 players), and more environmental interactivity. I want to be able to interact with forerunner machinery and traverse different routes on different playthroughs.
I would also like a well balanced weapon sandbox. NOT like halo 3’s. The automatics were basically pea shooters, they werent accurate enough to be useful beyond like ten feet, and they didnt do headshot damage. This should all change.
I know that this would be weird but it would be cool if halo had a lean mechanic. It would help with close engagements and provide for more tactical play and further encourage better strategic positioning instead of just “who can shoot the persons head the best.”
Better vehicles and more vehicles need to be thought of. Halo 5’s vehicles were all based on a health system and it felt really dumb and arcadey. I should not be able to destroy a scorpion with an assault rifle. Period. They should have damage threshholds where only certain weapon types can damage certain tiers of vehicles. I’d also like to see some vehicle abilities kind of how battlefield has them. It’s the 2500’s. We should have awesome technology that allows for awesome futuristic gameplay.
I definitely would love some mod support, and custom weapon and vehicle tuning capabilities. If I want to change how a weapon or vehicle functions, I should be able to. And mod support would expand the games lifespan by years.
I also want a very long and deeply immersive campaign. I love halo’s lore and it would be cool in Infinite connected some of the preexisting lore from the books and expanded media into its narrative.
I’d also like a more interactive melee system, where I can block and counter melee attacks.
Also, the different spartan generations should have noticeable differences. The spartan 2’s should be huge and powerful, like 8 foot tall killing machines. the Spartan 4’s should be smaller, but maybe have access to better technology or something, and maybe show case their additional augmentations.

Honestly, most of this sounds pretty bad to me. Especially melee countering and weapon leading on all weapons. There are plenty of other games with those features, go play those and let Halo be Halo.

Please tell me why any of these are bad. Better, more open campaign? Balanced weapons? More realism? Halo can be halo while being a better version of itself

I said “most” not “all”, campaign is pretty much the only thing that you list in your reply that is an improvement. Your version of balanced weapons isn’t balanced at all and favors low skill players while punishing high skill players. More realism isn’t a plus, Halo isn’t about realism, it’s a fantasy universe. More realism turns it into a completely different game. Halo doesn’t need to copy other games to be good, it need to innovate to be good. That’s something I sincerely hope 343 finally understands and makes a basis for the design decisions in Infinite. They copied features from other franchises and put them in H4 and H5, there’s a reason a lot of people strongly dislike those games and have no faith in 343’s ability to turn out a good game.

How is making weapons “balanced” unbalanced? Maybe it’s a good thing to make all the weapons in the game useful? I’ve been playing halo for 11 years, and I have had a decent KD in all of them. I have a 2.8 KD in the MCC and a 1.8 in halo 5. 343 could make the weapons balanced by adding in skilled weapon mechanics such as recoil management. Having good automatics doesnt make it unskilled. In halo 3, the automatics were almost useless compared to the precision weapons and non power weapons. In halo 1 the Assault rifle had zero accuracy and doesnt function at all how a normal firearm would. If someone chooses a better weapon for a better engagement they should be rewarded for it not punished. If I choose an assault rifle in a closer engagement and my enemy chooses a battle rifle, I should hold the advantage. And if two people have assault rifled, the one that manages recoil and lands headshots the best should win. That is very skilled. Tell me how it isn’t. Even in halo 3, the BR wasnt totally accurate, it had some random spread, and it completely beat out the AR, spiker, plasma rifle, and needler in 9/10 engagements. And no, Halo is not a “Fantasy.” I dont know why you would even say that. It is military science fiction. It is based in reality. More realism is a plus because it adds to the immersion, can increase the skill gap, and gives the gameplay and the lore itself more room to grow. It isnt about copying games. Just because a game implements certain features from other games doesnt mean it is copying. If it improves the game then who cares if another game has it. Yes, Halo should be unique, but it could be so much more than it is today and was 10 years ago.
