Gameplay Expectations for E3 in June?

After Xbox being confirmed to appear at the virtual E3 this June (12-15), I wonder what everyone’s expectations are in terms of gameplay for Infinite? I highly doubt that we will get new gameplay in Inside Infinite posts before then. However, I am putting money on new gameplay being shown at E3. I’m thinking Xbox is going to pull out the big guns then, and that includes what 343 has been doing since the July reveal last year. With that being said, what are everyone’s expectations/predictions for new gameplay? Do you think we’ll see a side-by-side graphics/lighting improvement from campaign reveal of last July? A completely different portion of campaign revealed altogether? Multiplayer gameplay? Some/all of the above? Neither? Anyway, I’m really interested to see the community’s thoughts on this, considering we’re only a short time away from a major gameplay drop!

They’ve all but confirmed that we won’t see new footage until E3. I’m willing to bet we’ll get a new Campaign segment showing off a new vehicle or weapon along with a showing of multiplayer. If we get a side-by-side of last July, I could see that coming in a mini montage at the end or even the beginning leading into the new campaign segment.

They will definitely have something for Halo Infinite for whatever they are doing for E3. Whether that is a multiplayer reveal for during the E3 virtual event itself or new campaign footage is anyone’s guess. I do wonder whether they will have a virtual press conference during the E3 date as if it were their traditional conference or whether they will simply participate in some manner with whatever E3 is already planning to do, then saving their heavy hitters for their own event sometime in June/July. Either way I hope we see new gameplay soon!

The potential is looking very good for how campaign’s visuals will be by this time and so I do hope they show it off. Fingers crossed by release MS don’t also push this into a campaign that requires online somehow ie as a requirement because I can certainly see them try to pull that

E3 will pretty much be the launching pad for Halo Infinite.

It’s a digital only event so I can see why they are keeping their cards to their chest. They need heaps of content to release to boost views etc.

But it will also be a mere 4 or so months before the game is released. Time to ramp it up.

I think that during this months or next months Inside Infinite they’ll give a hint at what to expect.

For now though we can only speculate on this but I think it will go as follows:

  • A new ‘Become’ trailer to start off with - A new campaign trailer with a chance for a revamped gameplay (new area or repeat of last years but longer) reveal - Multiplayer reveal. One that will show off a new mode with, perhaps, a showcase match (pre recorded cut down version of slayer or something) - Flighting dates revealed - A section talking about what happened and whats to come in the months leading to release. After E3 it would be nice to continue the Inside Infinite’s but make them larger. I was thinking have sections of the game be dedicated to them as (order could vary) follows: June-a recap of E3, July-campaign focused, August-Multiplayer focused (social + ranked), September-Customs Browser, October-Forge and Theatre. With a November release.

Would love Inside updates focussed on those areas… except I don’t want to wait until October for Forge

Do we know what they are planning to do with Inside Infinite in April and May?

May would be perfect for a pre-E3 build up. Brief chat with all the teams about what they are doing / expecting for E3.

But what about this month?

My guess is that they’ll open similar to Halo 4, with a gamplay/cinematic trailer that will lead into an new campaign demo showing a new area of the game.

Then someone like Frankie, or maybe even Joe, will come into stage and give a little talk.

Then they will show of some of the multiplayer, potentially a live match with some of the e-sports players, as they’ve been making some noise recently.

Then they’ll end with an announcement that Flighting for the game will begin the following day, or maybe even after the stream.

Then, if we’re even this lucky, they might close out with another short tease of the campaign.

in a way i want them to just show the same thing again just with all the updates. it a be the best way to see what they have done in the last year. The original showing i had no issues with the gameplay shown, it all looked good.

It will focus on the PC team which was said during the opening to Februarys Inside Infinite. Though we still don’t know what May is going to bring, so I think say there is a good chance we’ll see a pre-E3 build as you say.

It’ll probably be more focused on multiplayer since they probably want to put spoilers to the minimum. Plus there’s a lot of stuff we don’t know about the game itself besides campaign so be weird to focus on that unless Infinite lacks content at launch.

This is what I would like to see also. To expand on it, show us one side mission so we get a better idea of how the game narrative flows.

I don’t know what they’ll show, but I’ll say this-

  1. There is zero excuse for them not to show actual multiplayer gameplay
  2. There is zero excuse for them not to show more actual campaign gameplay

I have complete faith that they will show both of these, but in the 1% chance event that they don’t, boy oh boy that would be one colossal embarrassment on 343’s part, and at that point just cancel the game. But like I said, that would be highly unlikely.

I think 343 will be super-cautious about showing too much Campaign. They burnt themselves badly with Halo 5 by showing too much too early and then changing tact anyway. But then again, with the delays you would hope the story is pretty much bedded down by now.

If I was in charge of their presentation I would pace things a bit;

  1. Release another trailer just before E3 to generate a bit of hype.

  2. Then when E3 starts show another campaign demo. A different area - but enough to show that the graphical issues have been sorted out. Sweet talk the fans with a first look at the new pistol and/or shotgun in action.

  3. Make a little vid-doc summarising the info released in Inside Infinite. The wider population will get a lot out of these.

  4. Midway through E3 throw out a multiplayer montage trailer. Glimpses of a couple of maps. First look at a new weapon or grenade. The grapple shot in anger. Announce all the eSports bits.

  5. Settle down towards the end with a look at Forge and Customs. Throw in a few glances at scripting etc. Make a bit of a fuss about classic game types such as Infection, Grifball, etc.

  6. Have a bit of a formal Q&A. Mix it up a bit with feeding us new bits while also using it to fully detail the more controversial changes - like Coatings. You need to get these over and done with (sandwhich them between tastier morsels).

  7. End the show with a bang… dump the first multiplayer flight while everyone is still in the E3 party mood.

I still think that we will most likely see the next gameplay footage from the upcoming Halo Infinite especially the campaign levels. At the same time, I also think that 343 Industries might give us some updates on whether we will see characters like Arbiter, Jerome-092, Ellen Anders, James Cutter, Frederic-104, Kelly-087, Linda-058 and Spartan Locke appearing in Halo Infinite.

i just cant wait to see the multiplayer

I’m definitely expecting some new campaign gameplay, to make up for last years showcase. Not that the gameplay reveal was bad per se, I loved the way it looked even back THEN. I’m going to love it even more now. Bonus points if the multiplayer is unveiled.

I expect at E3 this year More campaign gameplay multiplayer reveal and new vehicle show off big team battle and multiplayer trailer reveals other maps and guns and split screen flights dates and release date!!

The other big thing they could do at E3 is unveil whatever direction they are taking with Invasion / Firefight / Warzone.

All im expecting this go around is an updated campaign demo as well as a small clip of the MP with a beta release date as well as the games actual release date.

Short and sweet.
