Gameplay Aside - The Shop

Of the first things I look at is how a game implements monetization. The Battle Pass I was ok with; the very EA like cash shop I am not so into. Especially looking at what these prices may be translated to. My estimation is 1000 = 10USD, so the pricing of 7USD for a Helmet and 9USD for Weapon Skins seems crazy for a Halo game. I really hope they adjust these. Halo 5 was the first iteration of a shop but the REQs were unlockable using earned game play points. I see no such option here. This is very unfortunate in this particular topic.

Do keep in mind, they did say that everything could be unlocked in game via the battle pass or challenges. I think we can assume by completing challenges and unlocking tiers on the battle pass, we get that in game currency to then buy things in store.

They did not say ‘everything’. They said nothing in the Battle Passes will be sold separately. Accordint to their own promises, they’re free to make content that is sold separately. Whether or not we can rank those items through gameplay remains to be seen.

Yeah I mean we don’t even know the conversion rate or anything. We don’t know how much anything costs. I think everyone will agree they aren’t selling many helmets for $7 let’s be realistic. Think your conversion is seriously off.

But they got to make money somehow. I’m okay with them making people pay for certain things, it supports the longevity of the game and means we will get more support, free maps etc etc. Back in the day we had to pay for maps and you barely got to play on them outside of a single playlist because lots of people didn’t buy them.

I’m going to thank all the whales in advance for buying all the stuff to allow people like me who dont care about cosmetics in the slightest to play for free ,
I hope 343 monetise every little aspect to the absolute hilt and for top dollar because that’s AAA gaming nowadays and frankly we as gamers deserve it .
However the f2p model has cost as us dearly in losing red v blue that’s a hard trade off to the halo DNA from where I stand but we got bots so there’s that .

Feels very similar to Apex Legends and in my experience Apex has one of the most bearable monetization strategies. I’ll take this over REQ packs any day:)

No they did not say this. They said you wouldn’t be able to outright buy cosmetics that you can unlock through challenges.

My guess is like all F2P there will be some shop exclusive cosmetics. What worries me is the challenge swappers being in the shop.

I definitely feel the prices are way too high but they’re in-line with every other game these days. I just…won’t buy them lol. Cosmetics are too expensive in games for what they are. Can’t believe people spend the money they do on them.

Id rather it not be expensive ,but I can honestly care less. If I do ever buy anything it’ll probably only be 1 or 2 things. I am curious on how to get that estate gold though.

I mean you get credits from completing challenges, which you can use in the shop. What’s the problem?

I’m hoping that these are not “final” prices. Only time will tell though.

I think that you can earn credits by playing in the full game like halo reach.

I am hoping for that as well, much like Reach / Halo 5.

the game is free to play, it needs to monetize somehow and with how good the gameplay is, I don’t mind the prices at all.

If I had to guess you have to buy that funko pop figure that had the same color scheme as iirc it came with a promo code for a coating
