Gameplay: Animation Cancel YY should go

A small detail that really impacts how fights go down. In Halo 5, you can cancel the grenade throwing animation as soon as the grenade actually leaves by pressing YY fast, to keep shooting. While a neat little tech trick some may like, I think it does take away from the gameplay. In Halo 3 timing pushes out from behind your cover to dodge the nade throw and get a split second advantage in the fight was a key element of the moment to moment battles.
It’s a small detail but I think has a big impact on lethality and 1v1 interaction.
Also in Halo 3 and Halo 5, your weapon pickup and grenade throw animation timing is for some reason tied to your ping to the server. If you’re on higher ping, you don’t get your weapon back up as fast after picking up a weapon or throwing a grenade. This also needs to be fixed in Infinite I feel, especially if it can’t be cancelled as I propose.

True

Didn’t know that till you said it now I have to see if it works

That was a thing in Halo 3 (not sure about 2 and the rest) so I don’t see it going away any time soon. You can YY cancel grenade throws, melee, equipment throw (Halo 3), weapon pickup animation, reload etc. It’s just an easy technique that allows you to save some split seconds and cancel the lag from some animations, I honestly don’t see why it should go away? It’s in the game, everyone can do it, it doesn’t give anyone an unfair advantage, etc.

I’ve always wondered why devs (Bungie, 343i) insist on implementing these patches across-the-board. Couldn’t they confine the changes to just MP without impacting the rest of the game? Unless the glitch is a massive game breaker, I don’t think it should be patched in all game modes.

IIRC there was a movement enhancing glitch in H5 that was of great help for speedrunning, but I think it got patched? Now in some speedrunning communities, people find ways to run games before they were patched (usually on PC) so there’s no issue there. Xbox H2 furnishes an excellent example of this. The update can be declined. The sword flying trick makes H2 considerably more fun to run and the perma camo glitch is a life saver on Gravemind.

Nah I like it, love animation cancelling in almost every game.
