GameInformer: Promethean Details

Edit : I guess it’s ok for me to post this…? I mean it’s only considered as a leak if I post any pictures, right? It was this way back with the gameInformer reveal.

It’s coming from the latest GameInformer Issue.

> Knight - Deadly warriors, use weapons like Light Rifle and Supressor.
> Knight Lancer - Scouts and Marksmen, use Promethean Vision to locate hidden enemies
> Knight Commander - Have skills of Knights, but can wield Incineration Cannons, stronger armor, Autosentry turrets
> Knight Battlewagon - Rare but incredibly dangerous, huge frames draped in heavy armor and hardlight shielding, can deploy Autosentries, will wield Scattershot if you get too close. (Orange patterns through body and on face, orange spikes on back. Super badass!)
> Watcher - Wield boltshots, summon crawlers, protect and resurrect Knights.
> Crawler - Agile and move in packs, fire Boltshot from distance
> Crawler Snipe - upgraded crawlers, no further details. I assume they keep larger ranges.
> Alpha Crawler - Lead packs of Crawlers, has a Supressor

So, the prometheans are only composed of 3 types…
I’m really disappointed, mainly because they are already fully shown, so, once again, the game will most likely not contain any surprises on the enemy side…

Considering the flood isn’t in there as well, and considering we haven’t heard anything about half of the Covenant species, I think we’ll be a little short on the enemy variety side (which is one of the reason I dislike Reach’s campaign).

I guess we still haven’t seen the main nemesis, but well it’s probably just one boss fight, not really a new thing in the sandbox.

And what about sentinels, enforcers ? Still nothing, yet…

Thats kind of your fault for LOOKING for spoilers. If you wanted surprises then you shouldnt of looked.

Knight Battlewagons sound like Hunter counterparts.

> Thats kind of your fault for LOOKING for spoilers. If you wanted surprises then you shouldnt of looked.

Er, come on, everyone watched the e3 demo.
That’s why everyone talks about prometheans freely, because it’s not even considered a spoiler.

However, what would have been a spoiler is having other types of Prometheans, but there aren’t any.

Doesnt matter. Its ur fault. But a surprise is something that you dont know about… so ur dissapointed because you think that they showed it all? So Youre dissapointed because you don’t know that there could STILL be surprises? Youre not making any sense.

A surprise is something YOU DONT know about, yet youre trying as hard as you can to look for them, thus NOT being surprised in the end. And ur dissapointed becuase ur NOT surprised.

If you didn’t read that article, then YA you would of been surprised about the enemies.

> Knight Battlewagons sound like Hunter counterparts.

…and have an either incredibly awesome or stupid name, I haven’t decided yet.

I think that these are just the different variants and there will be other kinds of enemies. Whether that’s true or not, I can’t wait to see my first Battlewagon(-Yoink- name tho)

You don’t quite understand, there aren’t any other promethean types, we saw each of them in a single video everyone watched at e3. So I know I can’t be surprised here, that’s my problem.

I always thought there were other types, but nope.

And stop saying this is my fault, because everyone interested about the game will watch something as important as the e3 demo, however it doesn’t need to unveil every new types of enemy.

In case people are not able to read the quote, here is what the guy over at NeoGAF wrote (obviously taken from the article) :

> The Knights are one of three subdivisions within the Prometheans.

So, no, there aren’t any other types of enemy, just Crawlers, Knights and Watchers.
I think they’re awesome, though. I like their designs and what they seem to bring to the sandbox, but yes I expected more than just those 3 things, because as soon as I saw them during e3, they became something familiar instead of new.

Thanks…

Thanks for the thread, OP! I’m really looking forward to fighting the Prometheans in Halo 4, they look awesome!

Apparently this is the Knight Battlewaggon according to people on Neogaf but to me Knight Commander fits the description more.

I should also say that this was seen at E3 so has no spoilers in the picture.

The thing is, we haven’t seen all of them in action.

We actually know little about their combat. We’ve seen a couple of those variants in action. We’ve barely seen any of the true chaos these Prometheans can cause.

We know about some of their abilities now… but I’m sure you’ll still be very surprised in some of those engagements where Crawlers and Watchers zip around while several Knight variants swarm and flank you. There is plenty of surprise left, especially with things associated with the Knights and Prometheans.

These enemies are more variety than we’ve seen before.

We had the Covenant in other games with a bunch of other species.

Now we have Prometheans with 3 distinct classes. And several sub-classes within those classes. Each sub class and class uses different strategies, abilities, and tactics to overcome you. This won’t be easy, especially with Crawlers swarming around you and Watchers always keeping the action going.

This almost gararntees some fun (and difficult) missions with Prometheans in Campaign and Spartan Ops.

Way back when they first showed the Prometheans, 343 stated we had been shown 3 of the 7 enemies. I doubt that includes the variants of the species, as 2 Knight variants were shown, and if they counted, 4 would have been shown.

343 aren’t gonna reveal all before launch… Not even to GI.

I actually thought 343i will have 7 different kinds of Promethean enemies and subcategories of these. Not 3 kinds of enemies and a few subcategories of these.

Also, did they mention the Covenant and Prometheans combining forces?

Very interesting that Watchers have Boltshots and Crawlers have Suppressors. Do they should out of their back or face or something?

Notice how there are 8 enemies on the list, not 7. I think we still have more enemies left to be shown.

I’m very curious about that. This should be an interesting campaign.

I should point out that, yes, a magazine (back in may, I think, at least before e3) explicitly said the prometheans were composed of 7 disctinct classes. But, I mean, GI seems pretty clear (not saying the article is true, I’m just basing all of that on what I hear), so I think this number of classes includes the Knight variants, etc.
Yes, we get to 8 classes, not 7, but maybve 343. added one more since then, it’s possible, after all.

I totally know what you mean, and I was anticipating one of you to say that.

The truth is that I don’t consider a “slight” variant to be really different, it doesn’t feel like it to me. I’m more of a visual guy (not talking about the graphics at all, here), so I would need to see something that is really distinct visually to feel that it is different. And yes, one Knight has spikes, another one is blue or whatever, but ultimatly they still look totally similar (to me, again), just Knights.

I still don’t consider an elite zealot to be really different to an elite minor, etc. They are just elites.

That’s why AI behaviors are not the most apparent thing to me.

I hope you get what I mean.

Huh, BattleWagon. Not really a name i would have expected, but still sounds pretty cool.

Gentlemen, when they said we have 7 new enemy classes, they never said they would all be in the same faction. Perhaps the 4 remaining enemy classes are actually of a different faction? To keep things interesting, you can’t just have the two current enemy factions combine. No. You need to throw a 3rd/4th faction in to the mix, a la Ancient Evil.

Just like the Flood before them, provided my theory is correct, we will not see them or hear of them before release.
