Game variants, where are they and have they died?

There is a LOT of demand for more variety from playlists in Halo 5 - I say this as a fact becuase it seems like every other thread is about them, and every other thread I participate in definitely covers the subject. I agree that classics need to make a return, but what about simple variants of gametypes WE ALREADY HAVE??? where are Slayer BRs, Slayer PRO, ONE flag, 2 bomb assault, King of the hill as a variant of Strongholds, Oddball, SWAT DMRs, Covie SWAT, Promethean SWAT, SWAT objectives, Ricochet in the grifball playlist… I get that coding and scripting are involved in making new playlists and that takes time, but no one has really talked about the VARIANTS to EXISTING playlists that could easily add some much needed variety. So frustrating, they can’t take as much time making as a whole new playlist. What gives? These could appease the community while they await and beg for infection, multi team, etc… maybe I’M the crazy one here but the variety would go a long long way I think.

Now that it is available, I want oddball included in matchmaking. I don’t have enough friends to get an entire match together.

I agree that minor tweaked gametypes would add a lot of much needed variety while we wait until bigger gamemodes come out.

Warzone sucks so i don’t care. Add more playlists! I’d rather pay for DLC that is good than wait for these free updates that are junky and these damn remixes.

I fully understand that, but it’s not exactly my point - YES I want more playlists, but what I’m trying to convey here is that if you go into the Slayer playlist, there are no slayer variants. There is no slayer BR (BR starts), no slayer pro (no radar). SWAT has no variant other than swatnums… Without INCREASING the number of playlists, they can add VARIANTS into existing playlists to deliver the variety the community is looking for. Thank you for the explanation, hopefully 343 is reading this and sees that we know exactly what they’re doin and they can add variants to existing playlists and not deviate from their “formula” you mentioned

Also, YES. If it’s going to be a remix, let it be H3 guardians, narrows, amplified, etc. proven maps that people actually want in matchmaking. I also agree, I would rather pay for quality DLC in terms of maps and playlists.

I dont hate warzone, but VARIANTS of that playlist would be welcome as well (MULTI TEAM variants!! 4 teams of 6 Spartans = very happy Dark Knight :slight_smile: )

They need to add ALOT more modes permanently if they want this game to be more succesful, they are spending way to much time on HCS

What exactly makes you think that? It must be much easier and less time consuming than coding a whole new playlist… What do you mean?

I’ve been a 343 supporter since their beginning in h4. I think they’ve done a good job with the series. But if they not adding playlist and modes so people buy more req packs, then that is unacceptable.

Oddball is absolutely one of my favorites and could easily be added since assault is there (and btw I love assault ), and is also easily one of the best free for all game variants! Which reminds me I forgot about free for all variants - King of the hill, oddball regicide are great games and should be in there! Older halos have always had variants in playlists to make you prove your rank in a variety of settings, why isn’t it here??

I keep thinking that adding variants into existing playlist has got to be a cheap way to double the variety of games very quickly. I think this is going to be especially important with another arena game coming out soon… DOOM! I want to get this out here because variants are necessary IMO to keep the game relevant and fresh. Even tho I want doom really badly, I always want halo more.
