I think most of us can agree that while 343 did add some good gametypes (dominion and extraction I’m looking at you) they also left some out and at launch day, it just didnt feel like we were playing one of the biggest shooters of the year. There’s a lot to improve here.
- All the gametypes need to have a playlist that they’re in at launch. I think this was the biggest reason of the population drop. Griffball fans had nowhere to go, nobody even knew what extraction was, no doubles, the list goes on and on. Every playlist in H4 right now (minus the community oriented ones) NEED to be available at LAUNCH. I can’t stress this enough. I realize how many gametypes there might be in the game so just bundle them in objective playlists.
2.Bring back the old fellas! Territories, headhunter, swat potato race, assault, all of this stuff, bring em back! They’re fun! They make halo, halo and will improve objective playlists and make those custom games parties much more memorable. Please 343, we miss all the CTF variants.
3.Add new gametypes! Anyone here have any suggestions?
I’d like the return of actual Custom Games, not that gimped -Yoink!- we suffered in Halo 4.
I’d also like the return of all of the old gametypes, especially Race and Invasion, and also maybe a full blown Megalo editor, but that seems a little far-fetched.
I’m not really of the opinion that every single gametype needs to return in every single Halo game. What we can do is merge similar gametypes and add options to existing gametypes in order to save space.
Richochet is a suitable Assault replacement. The only difference is there’s no requirement to stand in the enemy’s base for 15s.
Extraction is a suitable Assault/Territories replacement, as it takes that defensive mentality of protecting the bomb, and expands on it greatly. Perhaps make an option that allows only one person on each team to be able to plant, and that person would be marked with a waypoint.
CTF should have a Neutral Flag option. As well as more options in general.
VIP and Juggernaut can be merged.
Regicide should be merged with Slayer, just by making the king an optional feature in settings. It doesn’t really need its own gametype, it’s just Slayer with a point bonus for killing the MVP.
KoTH options could be tweaked to make Race a possibility, without requiring a unique gamemode.

I still want a seperate territories and race mode (to make things easier for forgers and gametype makers)

It wasn’t THAT bad in h4. You had to work with what new stuff 343 provided but invasion is always good.
> Headhunter…
DESTINATION… MOVED
(I don’t know if I’d want that back)
Slayer
Oddball
KotH
Flag
Assault
Grifball
Dominion
Invasion
Extraction
Flood/Infected
I think if we got these with lots of custom options most people would be happy.
