Game types and Challenge rotations

I hope this is nothing more than me getting shafted by the RNG of the quick play rotations and not anything malicious, unfortunately given everything else about the monetization system it would not surprise me at all if it was in fact by design.

Has anyone else felt that when they had an active challenge for a specific mode, that the occurrences of the mode were reduced?

I have one challenge left for my weekly “complete 2 odd ball matches” I have been playing quick play for over 4 hours and only played a single OB match. Prior to any active challenges, I would regularly get all the game types at least once in an hour of play. This is not the first time it has happened to me, nor is it only restricted to one game mode. If this week’s reward was something more to my taste I would be tempted to use a swap and hope for the best.

I also used a double xp for the first time after getting a number of other challenges near completion, as soon as I popped the double XP; full sweat matches that used nearly all of the available match time that caused me to burn the XPboost getting none of the scenarios I needed to complete the challenges.

It certainly feels that way

I had a sniper challenge so behemoth had stalkers instead
I had a fusion core challenge so got Aquarius
I had a heavy machine gun challenge so got plasma turrets

Etc etc

I had both experiences. Needed to win one Strongholds Match and play one Strongholds match. It was nowhere to be seen for 2 hours. Fortunately I then won the one I got.

Around an hour later two other Strongholds related Challenges became active (capture 3 zones and kill 3 enemy spartans defending a zone). Went to Quickplay and found myself in a Strongholds match immediately.

So all in all I’d say it’s really just what server you connect to and what mode is currently in the queue for that server. I also see similar droughts of a certain mode or a certain mode showing up three times in a row when no challenges are active.

We simply tend to notice this more when we actually need something different.
