One of my favourite pieces of halo lore is “The Mona Lisa” and “heart of the Midlothian” shorts, I really loved the more human and realistic approach to combating enemies such as the flood and the Covenant. In reality most people would react just like the characters did in the shorts they would either “fly or fight” I really liked that narrative for the characters. I would like to see a halo game done like Battlefield 3 minus the integration, flashbacks and betrayal BS. I want a straight forward VERY realistic, gritty, gory, hellish war it would show the true horror of the Covenant and flood and even the Promethean’s. The Covenant where inches away from complete GENOCIDE of the human race and it’s just no big deal. They are the most formidable and dangerous threat we had ever faced but in the gameplay they are nothing special. The flood is terrifying and really scary but again they are weak in the games, no threat whatsoever, they cause the two most advanced races in the galaxy at the time to go cry in fear. And the Promethean are cutting edge warriors the penultimate warriors and the are reduced to shoot a orange orb then collect easy head shot. It’s sad really. In short I just want a realistic and war like representation for the enemies. I don’t necessarily mean this style for all games but for just like a spin-off series of stories that tell the tales of the insurrection, the Human- Covenant war and the post war. Just to show how gruesome that the Covies, flood and Promethean’s can be and show how humans would really be like in the these situations.
Seeing the enemies truly be a threat to the player especially on a Canonical sense would be a nice change of pace. However Halo seems to have always been about being a badass and saving the world/galaxy. If they were to make this change in a later rendition, or spin off title I would be interested.
