Game isn’t saving at checkpoints if I exit out it sets me back quite a bit. This is very annoying on legendary. Why isn’t it saving at last checkpoint??

Yeah, it’s really annoying when you have the Black Eye skull on in that the game no longer saves you at checkpoints if your shields are down or worse, even at 99.9% full! Yet another reason why I prefer Halo 5 and previous games because at least they still autosave you even when your shields are down with Black Eye on.

It only saves your progress when it says ‘saving progress’.
If you shut down your console it doesn’t close the game so when you come back the next day to play your right in the exact place you were when you shut it down. Just don’t end game. While in the game hold the Home button till the Shutdown, Restart option appear and shut it down.

Chances are that will put you ‘offline’ though. If you want to play multi-player between playing the campaign you’ll most likely have to quit the game.

This is by design. They don’t really explain this in-game, but ‘checkpoints’ are where you will restart if you die during a game session. When it says “Saving progress…”, that is where you will restart after fully quitting game and starting it again later.
You will not receive a checkpoint or save point if your shields are not full. So be aware of that if you’re playing with the Black Eye skull on.

Its not saving your checkpoints because of the skull you’re wearing. Go to your skulls, the one with the hammer does exactly what your complaining about. Turn it off
I will try that option because ive been going back to where i am on the Halo ring and my original progress was just killing the Elite in The Tower and then i ended the game and all that progress was lost. This is annoying this will be my sixth attempt with this not saving properly.
Question do I have to be online i ordwr to save progress? I am thinking about just deleting the save file and starting from scratch, but then again… not sure what to do?
This is the precise issue I’ve been having: I had a ctd not too long after the 2nd Adjutant Resolution fight (I had several crashes before, but this is the only one that preceded this problem), and when I reloaded, I was placed all the way at the very start of the mission “The Sequence”, at a FOB just outside the Command Spire. I went from 95% completion all the way to 55%. 7-8 hours of Legendary difficulty progress gone in an instant. And what’s worse, is that now the game wont save at all. Right after it happened, I decided I would just buckle down and redo it all, and after another ~2 hours, I quit the game. Coming back the next day, I was exactly where I started at the beginning of “The Sequence”. I suspect that the save is just completely borked, but if ANYBODY READING THIS has a solution I would remember you for all time, because I really don’t want to start all the way from square 1 on legendary when I was so close to finishing with 100% completion.
