game mechanics we don't want

Been thinking a lot about this, given how many new games have tried an done new stuff like wall running.
here is a list of game mechanics that are in popular games that Halo doesn’t need:

  1. No Wall running- (ie COD BO3, TitanFall)
2, No super abilities- (COD BO3, Destiny)
  2. No grappling hooks -(Overwatch, Just Cause 2-3)

going back to Reach, both Bungie and 343 added stuff that nobody was asking for which has had an impact on the fanbase maybe for worse.

Please this only for game mechanics not already in a Halo game.

I’ve been asking for that stuff since 2001, it’s that kind of sci fi stuff that makes halo great. I wish we had bots to play with, and could be something other than spartans, like hunters or prometheans

Good thread… also no Double Jump…

You don’t want those in Halo? 343 hears you loud and clear. Halo 6 will be sure to include all of those mechanics.

I do want a minor vehicle that can drive up walls and have upside down. Like a spidergoose or something.

I really hope 343 is done stealing mechanics from other games.

No custimization to the weapons (attachments, this may count as more of a feature than a mechanic but still).
no Spartan/armor abilities at all (I’d rather they be pickups like invis or o/s if they “have” to add them.

rest is stuff you’ve said, no wall running, double jumps, grappling, gadgets, ect ect.

This is is all for the multiplayer side of halo, I could care less what they add to the campaign side of it.

Ugh please say this doesn’t happen

No Spartan Charge or Ground pounds…

you do know every game has “stolen” mechanics from other games. Its not frowned upon and should not be frowned upon, look at deadspace (the first) its a collage of many mechanics but it was fantastic, same thing with shadow or mordor. There is no such thing as “stealing” mechanics in the game inductry unless you stole the physical code which almost never happens.

If it was a thing then bungie stole mechanics from Quake and Doom, oh wait its bungie, they get a pass.

Completely up to 343 what they want to put in their games. We can say whatever we want but they choose to listen or not to.

If these things come to halo, I’m out.

No coin collecting
No mushroom powerups
No kart racing
No plastic instrument plug-ins
No rogue-like dungeon design
No rhythm based combat
No quick-time only gameplay
No RPG dialogue selection
No third party guest characters
No power ups with eyes
No collecting and raising wild animals to do battle
No boxing
No sports cars
No match-three mechanics
No time-reversing
No dungeon based grinding
No basketball mini-games

LOL I’m pretty sure we will never see any of those abilities cause they don’t fit.

See I find that abilities being pickups make the game seem more ‘gamey’. I like the realistic way weapons and thrusters et all are handled in Halo (save Reach).

Super HalóMon Bros Racing!

I never expected to see Spartan charge but we got it. Which I despise btw. Ground pound I don’t mind because most of the time you see it coming a mile away. Spartan charge on the Maps Rig and Overgrowth is annoying a HeII.

Warthog racing and or Gun Goose racing could actually be a lot of fun as long as its social/casual and your stats from it don’t affect your main stats.

Agreed. No wall running for sure, but maybe wall clmbering with your thruster. Not every wall, just strategic locations. Similar to how jump pads already work, just more control with the ability to abort if need be. I hate launching up to my death.

Agreed.

I have no idea what you mean by super abilities.

I wouldn’t have anything against a grapple hook weapon or on-map armor ability other than that it’s not as fitting to Halo’s theme as jetpacks are.
Wall-running, yeah it’s probably best to leave it out.

Capture, train, and breed Grunts to fight with each other.

I’d buy it.
