I’ll be the next person to say that you are horribly incorrect, OP.
I’ve just combed over every page of the latesr GI, and their Halo 4 hub on the GI website. Nowhere does GI claim that you can play as a Forerunner, nor even that they will be the main enemy.
Just abysmally incorrect…

I believe it was said that you can use an ability called “forerunner vision.”
Not sure what this entirely is but I think its something to do with seeing enemies behind walls or something like that.
