Game Informer Editors' Top 10 Games From 2015

10 editors list their top 10 games for 2015. Out of 100 picks Halo 5 gets 1 and it’s a #10 slot.

Not surprised, but still SMH.

Just glad some great indie games are getting recognition…even if they’re rated under extremely buggy games like Arkham Knight.

Halo 5…does it really deserve a spot?

You know that game where you play as a piece of bread trying to get into the toaster? That game is better than halo 5.

It got #7 on page 2 also.

Halo can’t stay on top forever, its prime has already come and gone; new developers taking on a franchise always has bumps. I’m not surprised at this point.

Not enough Splatoon

Lol, that just made me think of how pretty much any custom game from past Halos could be an indie game even more wildly successful than Halo 5.

Dino Blasters anyone?

Awesome new IP, just needs party chat

Destiny was a pretty popular pick. Just another kick in 343’s balls by Bungie.

Lol

Yahtzee from Zero Punctuation gave it his #1 spot on the Blandest of the Bland awards. Game Informer’s folks can rank the games however they want, but Yahtzee’s award in particular seems more relevant to me. I don’t think Halo 5 was horrible, but not good and its advertising took more risks than the actual game did.

They person who wrote HTT should’ve wrote Halo 5 story.
Halo 5 would’ve been a much more popular game That way.

To be fair, he always disliked Halo for being generic. Which, in hindsight, is a kinda funny complaint as people claim that Halo failed to keep up with “modern shooters” prior to 343 taking over. You can basically pick each of his Halo reviews and just replace the name of the game and you’d get the same arguments…

Regardless if he’s wrong or right, but the game could have been a reskin of portal and he’d still give it the same award…

Yahtzee is a great comedian, but a terrible reviewer. He says in his review, and I paraphrase, “No new vehicles or weapons”, while ignoring the Phaeton, Plasma Caster, Hydra, et cetera. He didn’t even mention the new abilities you have, nor the squad mechanics.

I’m not trying to defend Halo 5’s campaign, as I too didn’t like it, but he just didn’t know what he was talking about.

Those parts are right, as you say, but I would still agree with his idea that Halo 5 is fairly bland nonetheless.

I think halo 5 can get boring if you play for several hours but it definetly isn’t bland, this reviewer certainly is not a Halo fan.

The problem I have with Yahtzee is that he’s an Introverted, opinionated moron who spews a load of inaccurate nonsense in a funny manner. His videos are funny but he himself is a guy who only ever plays alone and hates multiplayer games, particularly shooters. I’m not saying he’s 100% wrong in what he says but he is not a game reviewer or critic, he’s a single player only comedian and besides laughing at his content I don’t take him seriously.

Wow no love for the Master Chief? Come on 343 open your eyes and make things right. The main reason for this travesty was the underperforming story. Get back to the drawing board and make things right for part 6. Get a new writer to captivate your audience/gamer I know you guys probably already know but I can’t emphasize how important is Character Development. Work on improving your AI and introduce great Boss battles and don’t repeat the same crap (Warden). On the multi side how in Gods green earth was it ok to release the game without BTB, Forge, and the lack of classic game modes? Is inconceivable to think that 3 months after release you guys are now experimenting on classic game modes like Griffball etc etc.
Great gameplay alone was not able to deliver for the casual gamers and the main reason why this game is still relevant is because Halo has some of the most loyal fans in the world. We want you guys to succeed because we share the same interest.
