Game hangs/crashes on certain menus (Steam Ver.)

I’m getting a problem where the game constantly chugs, hangs and even sometimes freezes whenever I highlight options on certain menus like the Options & Career menu and the in-game pause menu. I don’t know why this is happening since by all accounts my computer is more than capable of running it. The game otherwise runs smooth as butter, but it’s mainly the menus where this issue comes up.

I brought this up on the Steam community page and some people have reported that the menus use up 8GB of ram while browsing the menus, wtf? There’s no way in hell the menus need to be using that much. Optimize your menus better please.

Win7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit
Intel Core i5-2500 @ 3.30 GHz
8GB ram
Nvidia GTX 1060
