Game freezes after a minute or two in multiplayer

I have over recommended specs and campaign works fine I’ve tried playing 3 multiplayer matches and each of them just froze after 2-3 minutes before going to a loading screen forever, anyone know a solution?

I’m glad it’s not just me . . . I’ve been having the same issue since early February (around 14th) where I start a multiplayer match, and about 2-3 minutes in the screen goes black and I can’t do anything (Alt + F4 does not even exit the game, and I cannot Alt + Tab out of the game). Multiplayer worked without any problem a month ago, and now I can’t even play the game!

yes i am also having this issue as well,

  1. yeah anything online the game crashed straight up, campaign, match making or fire fight all 3 online just crashes the game,
  2. i reinstalled the game and it blue screened my pc when it finished downloading. . . so thats new

something come about on the steam community about . . . .For more insight this is an issue that had begun after the 2-14-2020 update which was the update that started the CE flight and brought with it all of this:

Halo: Reach Updates / New Features:
Message of the Day added
Datacenter pings are now visible
Push-to-talk voice chat and Push-to-talk key binding
New crouch-while-moving behavior for mouse+keyboard

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary:
Includes support for several missions of Single Player and Co-Op Campaign
Multiplayer (Matchmaking and Custom Games)
New Customization (3D model viewer)

I’m not sure if it’s universal and others began experiencing this issue after this update, but if so then it has something to do with it.

Anyone else’s game started to freeze after this update?

not sure if this could be it but i have messaged 343 on twitter and there support page and im getting NOTHING back this is getting beyond a joke now

Just dropping by to say I am ALSO having this issue. It’s not under known issues. It’s super easily repeatable. The game hard crashes, task manager won’t end the task, have to completely restart my computer to stop Halo Reach from running.

Running latest version on legit windows 10.
Game is on the latest patch.
My FPS is capped to 60.
1920x1080 Resolution.
Enhanced graphics.
ALL overlays turned off.
Uninstalled Razor Synapse.

As shown my PC is more than capable of running this game. All my temps are running completely within their ranges.

Sorry for being so over the top thorough but I’m sick of people telling me completely common sense things that I need to check to “fix” this issue. This issue is 100% a Halo Reach issue.

Submitted a ticket with no reply for over 2 weeks now. Been unable to play any sort of multiplayer in this game for almost a month is ridiculous with no response what so ever.

Never thought that I will visit Halo forum as a player someday. Welp, Time is changing =)

All I can say about it: when game is ready to crush my “Network-Ethernet” tab in task manager starts to show some really crazy value> 100% of loading
It’s never been so high - even when I downloading this game

Hello Bloodevil991,

Our recent investigation into the “Connection Interrupted” error and associated mid-match disconnections has determined that NAT settings are the root cause. Please check your router’s settings and ensure that all NAT related settings are set to ‘Open’ or an equivalent option. In addition to NAT type, some routers have options for NAT filtering that will need to be adjusted.

We ask that you check your router settings directly and do not rely on third party software to verify router settings. It may also be helpful to research your router and ensure that you are aware of all other settings which may impact NAT.

If you do not have access to your router, please work with the individual or group that does have access to your router. In some cases this may be a network administrator, an ISP, or your school/work IT department. Halo Support is not able to troubleshoot any router or network permission issues.

If you believe you received this message erroneously or if the issue persists after following the above steps, please let us know.

Thank you,

ports here to open too

Hi guys! This post is old, but i had the same issues. I want to give you my solution, maybe could help anyone. I go on my network adapter settings and i checked “enable other people to Connect to my network” (go to proprieties) with in-game relays on. hope will help someone! Now i’m trying to do invasion with relays off, i hope i help anyone

This is still happeining.

This unfortunately still seems to be an ongoing issue.

Hello,

This is also happening to me.

Game will freeze after about 1 minute into a multiplayer match the timer normally freezes at 10:59.

Im on a fresh install of windows, Norton 360 for a scanner.

Tried the Windows store and the Steam version same issues.

2080TI
9900k Intel

No other processes or games freeze.

I did notice when im connecting to a lobby my discord voice becomes laggy like the game is forcing my internet to do some funky stuff as i red bar in discord before the game freezes and i have to close with task manager.

PLEASE HELP!!! the game worked great back when i played in Dec/Jan.

I believe the issue has to do with server disconnect. this may be caused to slower internet speeds. i am running about 32mbps. after talking to a few friends about the issue some have the same issue and those who did also had similar speeds. those with 100mbps and higher had no issues. So in conclusion i believe that you may need 80-100mbps+ to run multiplayer. Note: private matches seem to not have the same issue.

Hey I’m still having this problem and want to know if its been solved yet?

Hey guys!

I have the same issue. I tried all kind of stuff that I read here and there but nothing seems to solve this issue for me. Everytime I join an online game my sceen freezes around one minute into the game. I tried to submit a ticket regarding this but I didn’t even got a replay from 343…

Is there anyone who found a sure fix for this? My pc is more than good to run this game and I can’t understand what is the reason behind it. Halo 3 was one of my favourite game back in the days and I was really looking forward to get it on pc but if it’s unplayable I see no reason to buy it:(

Hey!

i have this issue too but I cannot find the way to solve it. It only happens in multiplayer, but Campaign works fine. I don’t understand why they haven’t fixed this yet after 5 or 6 months, it’s pretty sad…

Same problema I just Re-install the whole OS and mcc again and Guess What still freezer after 1 or 2 min multiplayer Match, all halo games same problem

Halo 3 just came out,
and I’m having this weird bug where I trying hosting or joining a friends game and within a minutes or 2 lobby freezes and then black screens with only the cursor.
Does anyone know how to fix this ?? I was playing campaign fine on max settings, and I can give and receive invites but I can do multiplayer …
