My friend and I just bought Halo5 and started playing campaign coop last night (around 16 hours ago or so from the time of posting this post). Right after the achievement of completing each mission for the first time was unlocked, the screen went black and did not move on to next mission. We had to went back to XB1 dashboard, kill the game, and relaunch the game. After going back in, the game did not allow us to choose continue. But it had the record of us completing the previous mission (e.g. best completion time), so the next mission was unlocked and we could start a new game immediately from that next mission.
The problem was the same no matter which of us was the host. It haunted us for 5 or 6 missions until the mission that Locke and Master Chief met and fought for the first time.
Not sure what was related.
We both live in Hong Kong (HK).
I play with a US version console, US version game disc, HK-region gamertag, console region set to HK, display language set to Traditional Chinese, stream-playing with my Windows 10 PC with latest Windows updates and latest xbox app update.
My friend play with a HK version console, HK version game disc, HK-region gamertag, console region set to HK, display language set to English, not stream-playing with Windows 10.
We connect through Xbox Live and Internet, not local LAN.

No one will fix Halo5 bugs now? Because the game is too old?

343 Industries are still continuously fixing major bugs, and hopefully bringing new content updates soon. However, if your issue is rare, and not many people have reported it then the issue will not be on their priority list. I haven’t seen any other reports of such a problem as you describe.
Personally, I can’t think of many ways to overcome your problem. If the problem is client side, then you might simply (both) have a bad install of the game. A complete reinstall might solve this, but would take a long time with all the updates, so might not be worth it in your case.
Alternatively the issue could be server side, but this is unlikely as the campaign has the ability to be played offline.
One way to tell, if you play it offline (solo) do you still get the problem? If so, then the issue is on your end, if not it is on 343’s end.
I know this isnt really a solution, but it should help you get to one a bit sooner.

Thanks for the reply. I may try to play a mission solo to test it.
Just to update the status, the problem happened again last Saturday when we continue playing from the mission where Locke joined up with Arbiter to fight Convenant. We played 4 or 5 missions and the problem did not go away this time.
Just tried. Played solo on the short mission that you just talk with Dr Halsey, and successfully got through to the next mission.
Last time when we played coop, this was one of the missions that the game froze.
That would suggest that it is a problem with your connection to the server then. I can’t think of anything more you can do. It would be probably best to raise your issue on main server thread.
One thing you can try if you notice that generally halo 5 is being rather sluggish is to reset your MAC Address under connection/network settings on your Xbox. I find that this can make a lot of things load faster for me, e.g. opening REQ packs and loading the menu screen.
