Game feels heavy/un-winable in 1v1s - Xbox Series X (1 out of 5 times queuing with friends who play on PC)

Hey everyone,

Overview: I am ranked in the top 1% in Halo Infinite Ranked. Occasionally experiencing un-winnable 1v1s/damage output does not seem reasonable when playing with friends who play via pc (whom are ranked a little bit lower than I)

I am curious if anyone else is experiencing the following issue:
I queue with my friends who play on the pc. I am playing on Xbox series x.
I play a few matches with them and notice I am doing abnormally terrible as it seems I cannot win 1v1s and my damage output at the end of the match is less than half of my team’s average. (This does not seem to happen to me when I am solo queuing without them, as I am typically the top damage output or in line with my team.

Once I realize this issue is occurring I then proceed to reset my Xbox series x and rejoin them and bam! I am now in line with the team (or leading) the damage output and I can finally win 1v1s.

Is anyone else experiencing an issue similar to this? I wish the game felt consistent match between matches.

Occurred on 2/6 in my first two matches in Solo/Duo queue (Streets Slayer & Stronghold)

Note: After the two Street matches, I then proceeded to hard reset my Xbox Series X, and my damage/game felt playable. (As you will notice in the damage done)

Id be interested to see this tested with a large sample size. Ill have to give this a try myself. Its possible its just a coincidence, but with the system that way it is, wouldnt shock me if this was a defect.

I’m aware of the memory leak issues on PC, but I wonder if there deeply embedded software issues on the Series X|S client too.

They’d naturally be a lot harder to spot, since we don’t get conventional access to files, but problems that can be solved with restarts that always come back screams “faulty code” to me.

Appreciate it. My profession is in a data-oriented field. I think when I have some downtime I am going to see if I can get into the weeds of the API here and see if I can find anything interesting.

I would want to look at the correlation of when my damage is less than half of team’s damage and if I am playing with my buddies or not and then see when my damage goes back to normal. (Wish I could recall each time I hard-reset my Xbox series x after noticing this issue.)

Do you know the symptoms of the ‘memory leak issues on the PC’ that you are discussing? Are they similar to what I am experiecing?

No, it causes a crash back to desktop on PC. Which is a very common problem yet 343i is hush hush about it.

Interesting. Appreciate the background.

Someone theroized that your hit detection will shut off on purpose in order to have the other player win the battle

That would be wild if they did that. I wonder why they would do that?

For some reason, I doubt they would do that. Interesting theory though.

Because they want good players to even out with the causals or bad kids. I’ll try and find the post for you

Interesting - I would imagine I would feel this quite consistent then however if that was the case when I am playing with my friends and a reset would not solve this issue.

On PC your auto-aim would be disabled midair and if you didn’t launch the game in the perfect order you wouldnt have auto-aim at all.

Curious if something similar is sneaking its way into your Xbox sessions, though I havent heard of it.

I do not know if any of you have tried to play this game on the xbox one (Day one edition). However, I originally played this game via that. (Prior to getting an xbox series x)

I went in a 1v1 with my friend who played on the PC. I literally could not win a 1v1. I was trying my absolute hardest as well. There was just something with playing it that my bullets would not hit/gun not shoot quick enough/him just being able to shoot quicker!

I feel like that is what is occuring when I have this issue. However, I am on the xbox series x now. I just can not win a 1v1/bullets are not registering.

However, following the reset I play the exact same and I am able to win/the bullets are registering.

The Seriex X seems to drop frames if you quick resume the game. My theory is the video settings switch from performance to quality which drops the fps from 120-60. When you go from 120 to 60 you can’t necessarily see it but something feels off. I think this is what your referring to, just force close your game before you start every session
