So i was playing in a ctf game where I myself was doing well and our team was winning. Earlier in the game, in order to avoid a spartan laser while in a ghost, I sped up into another teammate, accidentally killing him, though I only thought it would hurt him. Then later, another teammate in a warthog gun, provoked me by shooting the heck out of me; since I was in a gausshog, on the gun, I decided to shoot at him, as a warning. The player continued shooting me, so I dusted him, but then I was kicked out. I’m not saying I did no wrong, but I think it was greatly exaggerated. I personally think team killing as a whole should be removed, as it adds no real strategic value, and just results in accidental or purposeful kills, then potentially bans when they’re necessary.
Et tu brute?
I got booted from a game while driving a warthog and an enemy boarded me killed me and my vehicle continued flying ahead splattered 2 team mates. I was booted before I knew just what the heck happened.

The only time I’ve been kicked for team killing was in Grifball.
I was at the enemy goal zone and we had just scored and… they were everywhere. Red and Blue, I couldn’t see. So I smashed and smashed, ended up killing 3 of my mates in like 5 seconds.

That made me laugh
sometimes i get booted for no reason, then it bans me from the game…

Translation: I intentionally killed two of my team mates and got caught, and rather than admit that I was at fault I’d rather blame it on the game.
Lets be honest here, it’s fairly easy to not betray people. Sure, the odd accident will happen. But what you did was intentional. The first guy you killed to save your own skin, the second because he “provoked” you. You got booted, and if you continue to act like that you’ll get a ban. Seems like the system is working perfectly to me.
So, it seems like most of us are in agreement. I think they have to make some changes. The thing that upsets me the most, is that I was in a hog, driving around with another player, getting kills, having fun and we were winning. It’s upsetting to be kicked for what could appear like a bad thing, but in reality was just an accident, and self defense. I’m not saying I’m perfect in this scenario, but I feel like the ban was undeserved.

First guy was very close to me, I expected minimal damage to be sustained to him, maybe even none, the full death was surprising. Second guy almost killed me, I shoot at him once as a warning, then do to his continuance of shooting at me, I took it seriously. This was my first ban, so I didn’t know that the 2 kills would magically lead to it. Also, as I say, we were WINNING, I myself was doing very well. I have no quarrel with random player online, and I have no reason to kill them, one accident and one provoked kill out of self defense seems reasonable. I don’t claim entire innocence, but i’m far less guilty than someone who deliberately killed 2 players.

Pick one.

What you’ve never killed someone accidently in self-defense? It happens to me at least twice a week.

they were 2 separate incidents, thus had 2 separate reasons and outcomes.
It has total strategic value because it gives you a reason to not do stupid stuff like that…

I agree with this. Believe it or not removing team killing will get exploited. Whether it be griffball where people hammer the ball carrier into the air to either ground pound the goal to score, or slayer games where you can get naded outside of a map. You can blame the games design for those said exploits but me personally I’m fine with friendly fire being on. I think it adds to the experience more than it takes away.

then when these accidental kills happen, what can you do? Get booted, that’s all. I played s a game today where a teammate was taking random shots at me throughout the whole game, and another game where I spawned in front of a teammate warthog and instantly got splattered. These seem wrong to me.

The fact that Grifball has any punishment system in place is asinine. Give everyone melee weapons and tell them to duke it out at close range with crap for radar range BUT MAKE SURE NEVER TO ACCIDENTALLY KILL ANYONE ON YOUR TEAM OR YOU’RE BANNED, YOU FILTHY TEAMKILLER.
Seriously, what the -Yoink-, 343i? We don’t need banhammer abuse. We’re being treated like children and it’s retarded. Ban people for cheating, get booted and have your CSR go down if you betray on a game-to-game basis.
This ever-present aggregate sin-counter is made of stupid and I’m quite frankly not playing Halo as much anymore because it’s taking the fun out of everything to worry about ‘Oh no, I better not boost in the ghost because my teammate might jump in front of me’ or ‘Oh, no, better not shoot back at that teammate who’s shooting me because the game might boot me for two hours if I kill him’.
Seriously. Piss off with the banhammer, 343. It’s insulting and annoying.
