Game crashes on startup on GPU Passthrough VMs

As the title suggests, when running the game under a VM with a dedicated video card passed down to it, the game crashes on load.

Solution:
Install Hyper-V in the guest. This will cause a general performance loss in other software and is usually not recommended. However, the other alternative is to disable hardware virtualization in your hypervisors settings. This is completely unrecommended.

Nested virtualization sucks, but it is the lesser of two evils.

Out of sheer curiosity, why are you running the game on a VM? Surely there is no advantage to doing that, unless it’s Linux thing.

Exactly what it is. Only use windows for like 2 or 3 games i cant play on linux. why have a completely seperate computer when i can just give a video card to a vm.

Ah, okay fair enough. Honestly I’m quite proud of myself for guessing that right.

Hopefully the launch version of the game runs a little easier on Linux. I don’t know much about gaming on Linux, but isn’t an updated version of Proton supposed to be releasing soon to make this sort of thing easier?.
