Was told by Postums to ask around in here to get answers ages ago, but I decided now was better than never. I’m mainly looking for clarifications and other questions, mainly ensuring my project does not step out of line in terms of what I do.
- I understand that using assets from Halo games (like models and textures and stuff) isn’t allowed because of the Rules, but is it fine to use these assets as placeholders for future assets, for example when an asset like a Pelican or a gun does not have a model created for it yet, would it be fine to use an asset for development purposes until the proper asset for it is created? (Of course, private and not shown to public)
- Is it possible to acquire permission/licensing to use dialogue found in the Halo games (e.g marine chatter)? (I’m specifically looking to acquire licensing to use the voice-lines of Chips Dubbo and various covenant, as well as Sergeant Johnson if David Scully is not available.)
- Is David Scully (Sergeant Johnson’s voice actor) contactable, or is he still affected by the voice actor’s union strike? (Back when he was announced for HW2, a lot of people were saying the reason he was not able to reprise his role for HW2 was because he was in a voice actor’s guild/union which was going on strike, so he was not allowed to work.)
- Does Frank O’Connor happen to have a discord or any other real-time medium that I am able to chat to him in regarding Game Content Usage Rules and related topics? Due to my timezone I’d assume he’d be asleep at this point, and stuff like messaging on Twitter can tend to be fairly slow as I do not check it often.
- If I was to recreate the original Combat Evolved OST using the original patches and synth for my project (we’ve pretty much figured all that out; proteus x, jv xv5080, etc) would that end up falling under copyright laws or would it be fine to use under the Content Usage Rules?
That’s all I can remember to ask off the top of my head.
