I feel all the negative critics on Waypoint are overreacting, as the gameplay looks SO fun and it’s confirmed that the game is unfinished via this interview here
"What state is the version of the game we saw today? Will the visuals improve?"
“Halo Infinite is still very much in development. The team is very focused on bringing the best experience possible to fans and we still have a ways to go. So this is definitely a pre-release version of the game that folks are seeing today.” - Chris Lee
People need to take this with a genuine grain of salt. Imagine the pressure they’re under anyway, with the massive expectations and a Pandemic weighing on their every move.
I’m really excited about this. Give your thoughts.
Doesn’t surprise me at all, hopefully later builds will have better lighting to highlight the details on the models in game.
I’m very excited too, but concerned about the quality of this game so close to release. No other Halo game has ever looked so inconsistent and rough months away from launch. It sparks a lot of questions.

The quote in your sig says it all. A rushed game is forever bad…

I’m also hoping the details in the models are more fleshed out or more contrasted in general. The AR looked very plastic.
That’s cool so the finished product could be amazing
It’s sort of irrelevant…Everyone was watching, and now this is the perception of Halo Infinite, and the Series X as a whole. It should have blown people away first time, if you ask me (which the end of your post does).
The Halo 5 beta was an earlier build, and ended up looking better than the build on the disc, so there is no guarantee that the visuals will improve. Chris was hardly going to come out and say “Yep, this is what the game looks like. Enjoy.” A little pessimistic, but that’s how I’m feeling about the game.
You say the negativity is over-reacting, but then surely the positivity of the same magnitude from the same gameplay is also over-reacting? I felt really disappointed when I watched the gameplay, and I can’t help that. It’s not like I want to not be interested in the game anymore. Although, I will concede that some of the criticism is bound to be over-blown, as is always the case. Just as some praise will be over-blown.
I just need to see more…I need context. It feels as though I’ve only looked through the keyhole, and I didn’t want that to be the case with the reveal. I wanted to understand what the game is going to be.

I feel like this was gonna be pushed out earlier… but the pandemic ya know? now there’s this weird lul between first view & the content drip we are gonna get till launch.
Who knows! Should be interesting though!

Halo reach looked just as bad in its beta, halo 5 also, there is a ton of polish put into the games at the end because the main focus is destroying game breaking bugs, and then optimization of graphics is the focus. There are side by sides of reach beta to retail, and halo 5 beta to retail to back my response.
When i watched this reveal, after loving this franchise since the beginning (still do), honestly I was kinda underwhelmed with the whole reveal not the game play or the graphics I just expected more from a flagship title reveal.
While some of the models textures and what not could use adjustment, I loved the look of where the game is going chief’s armor looks awesome. The skybox is unreal. My only major disappointment is they coulve had done a better job at presenting the game.
