I don’t know if I’m the only one who feels this way but Halo, and other modern games, feel quiet. There is no feeling of community anymore in game so I suggest making a gamemode game chat only. I know it wont be for everyone but I’d really like to see gamechat only in hardcore playlists or even ranked arena. This would force people to communicate with their team and create a sense of community in game as people might take the game chat mentality into other game types. Even if you don’t want to have to listen to randoms you could just mute people.
I’m interested to see what other people think and to hear their suggestions.
I’d be ok with that. I miss the days of having a full lobby of people talking, trash talking, and trolling. Just doesn’t feel the same without it. Though most people just get butthurt nowadays and report you.
I think it should be in various modes, but not all of them. Todays players like to hold conversations wiyh friends both in game and out, forced game chat ruins that.

I never said it should be in all. Just ranked arena or hardcore modes.

I doubt it will return. It won’t force players to communicate either, they’ll just mute and / or unplug the mic. I’ve met a lot of great players, but there are many gamers that are too toxic. I think they should make it optional, that way it’s available for those that want to submit themselves to it.
I think regardless of whether or not this is implemented (I’d be okay with it for the record) there will be more frequent chat in the lobbies compared to 4 or guardians. Mostly because so many people have been playing BRs. And, love them or hate them, the benefit of hearing footsteps and communicating with your squad has forced a lot of people to buy decent headsets that they’ll just want to use across all games.

I agree. The whole problem, IMO… “This would force people to communicate with their team and create a sense of community…” No. No it would not. You cannot force people to do something they don’t want to do. Period. The very fact that it would feel forced makes it less fun and fun is why we play to begin with. If something feels forced, people will resent it.
Aside from that, “Even if you don’t want to have to listen to randoms you could just mute people.” How would it ‘force’ communication if they could do that anyway?
I mean even if you could force communication (which, as eviltedi pointed out, you can’t) that isn’t going to force the creation of a sense of community. In fact, I think it has more potential to do the opposite. Because if people resent the fact that they can’t use party chat and have to end up muting team mates all the time just to play a game type they like, then I can see a lot of people who would otherwise just play quietly becoming ‘that guy’. The guy who plays music super loud so he can’t hear anyone else talking anyway. The guy who constantly -Yoinks!- out the rest of the team and demeans any/everyone for not playing well enough to satisfy him and blames it on poor communication… can’t you hear it already? ‘Geez people! We have to communicate now and you still can’t get it together!’ - ‘You guys suck! We have to communicate and you can’t even do that right!’
I get what you’re wanting to accomplish, but doing something to force it simply won’t work. It has to be enjoyable enough to be wanted for people to do it. If you can figure out how to make a ‘game chat only’ situation enjoyable enough for most people to want it, then you might get somewhere with the idea but good luck with that.
The way I see it, the ‘community’ aspect from back in the day is gone forever. ‘That guy’, masked by the anonymity of the internet is the major cause of it, which is why XBL came up with party chat and privacy settings for communications in the console’s software. That sense of community is not coming back IMO. Using features like LFG are the ‘next best’ thing. It isn’t going to bring back communication and community for XBL/Halo overall, but at least it’s a way to surround yourself with those who have the same preferences as you. I’d rather use LFG and groups to find a smaller community that shares my gaming philosophy than to (unsuccessfully) try and change the entirety of XBL/Halo’s community(ies) in which many people don’t want the same thing you do anyway.
