If you look at the newer cases they have four clips that clip the game in place. When you take the game out sometimes the clips dig into the inside of the game. Later on this tends to crack and even could damage the game.
I believe we should take a different approach on this and switch to the older design of cases. This has a more safer approach to handling the game, with the one press mechanism it is no doubt more safe than the new version of cases.
Yeah, I’ve taken my Halo 1-3 disks out of their box thousands of times more than Reach’s and yet it’s my Reach disk that is getting cracks in it around it’s center.
Newer cases also cut a giant recycle logo into them in order to use less plastic and be “greener” when it really just make the game less protected. Companies abuse this “going green” thing as way of cutting costs, not helping the planet.
It’s easier to just make the boxes better than to have to make more copies overall b/c we 've gotta replace them, but it’s all about profit to publishers.

It applies in the same way that you can complain about assassin’s creed 3 on these forums since they’re gonna be on the same system. If 343 had any say at all in what type of box the game comes in i’ll be dumbfounded

Another game on the same system doesn’t directly effect a Halo product. The case it comes in does.
Yeah, 343 themselves likely won’t have a say, but this is Halo.xbox.com, not 343i.xbox.com and all matters applying to Halo are welcome here. You have no right to say what doesn’t.

You forget 343 runs the show here. 343 uses these forums as a medium to see what fans think and want in halo 4. Opening a thread about something they cannot have a say in is pointless. This might as well be thread about the ink the use on the booklet that comes with the game. I hate to say it in such a negative way but its simply pointless

Why wouldn’t they be able to have control over it? It is their product, they should have say what type of case it should be placed in.

We don’t know if they do have a say though. 343i isn’t made up entirely of developers. It’s a division of Microsoft dedicated to the Halo franchise.
I doubt Microsoft came up with the idea of releasing Halo: Anniversary with a cover sleeve. Had to have been 343i which means they could easily be in charge of their own cases.
Shooting down a thread over an assumption isn’t fair at all.

To put it simple Microsoft wanted halo anniversary to sell. So their marketing team decided to slap a lovely cover sheet over it to make it look appealing and stand out. If it looks pretty then people will buy it. Sad truth about how marketing works.
The current box is the standard box for games. For halo 4 to have a different box either they’ll have to relaxed it as a special edition or up the price of the product. To change the box they’d have to order a new type of box. This costs too much for them to do it on a whim, even for halo. Its cheaper to buy 1000 standard boxes than to special order 1000 special boxes. This is why I say its pointless. Im not shutting down a thread om assumption, I say it based on fact
I completely agree. I never put my discs back in the cases because I’m terrified they’ll snap in half when I try to take them back out! A change’d be welcome.
But some of the commenters here are right: this problem isn’t exactly unique to Halo 4. Moving to General Discussion.

Not true, since Halo 4 is on the Xbox, and most xbox games are released on a disc, thus they get put in poor -Yoink- designed cases…
now back on topic…
back before I had an Xbox, I would stick discs in empty trim line CD jewels so I don’t break discs.
Now, as for the design, I hate how some cases have the little finger openings to grab the disc is on the top instead of bottom. I don’t know about any one else, but when I pull discs out by putting them on my index finger, and using my thumb to pry the disc out.
