What is this boost based on specifically?

Total medals.
As the person above me stated, I believe this boost is based on the total amount of medals you get.
You have to be in the top 50% of the most medals earned.

The reason I was unsure is because how the stats are shown on Waypoint in your game history. When you click on someone’s name, the drop down lists Medal Count and then a number. But that number is how many different medals were earned, not total. I find it weird that they would use the same terminology but count differently between the website and the game. And I haven’t been able to find any info more concrete than from other players.
I dont Know but I always used it like an IA kills in legendary ff and always got the xp (between 17000-23000) because they give u many medals for headshots, assist, bosses… good luck

I can attest that it’s the total number of medals, not the number of different medals. It works really well in warzone firefight. If you make sure you end the match with the most AI kills, you are guaranteed to get the max boost because each AI kill gives you a medal

Dont bother with the big guys unless there’s other targets around. Headshot spam Grunts, Jackals, and Crawlers.
