I’m on WIndows 10 playing the PC version of Halo Wars 2 with an Intel i7 4930k, a 1080 GTX, and a Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic sound card.
I experience static-like, fuzzy audio from the right sound channel during the initial loading screen, in the main menu, and in game.
This issue does not occur with other video game titles, like Final Fantasy XIV, Resident Evil VII, or Conan: Exiles. It also does not occur for other system uses, such as browser videos, music, or any other audio function.
I have tried switching my sound card audio through various frequencies and from 16 to 24 to 32 bit with the fuzzy sound persisting.
This issue essentially prevents me from playing the game, as I cannot play it without sound. As I play many Halo games for the story as well as the gameplay, this is a major turn-off for me.
Thankfully, I also have the Xbox One version of the game due to purchasing the game from the (horrible) Microsoft Store. I have not experienced any issues with the Xbox One version of Halo Wars 2.
